gwalchmai
On this day... 21 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. Never forget. 9/11/01 Shared by a friend. 3

tous
Sadly, a generation has grown up with 11 September 2001 as history, an event that happened a long time ago, no relevance to their lives. Even sadder is the blood and treasure spent and now wasted in Afghanistan. In my day, it was Nguyễn Cao Kỳ becoming prime minister and General Nguyễn Văn Thiệu becoming President, two ambitious dictators that rigged elections for years, that were more than happy to let Americans die for their country, just as the government of Vietnam, Republic of had been since 1964. They were also eager to steal most of the aid that the US sent to the country. Both of them had banked millions in Europe and both took the first aircraft out in 1975 when the North Vietnamese conquered the South. In Gunboat1's day, it was the Marcos regime in the Philippines, again a country that the US pumped billions into defending the corrupt governments since 1945. Said dictators all retired in Europe to live in luxury with the money that they stole from their people, although Ferdinand Marcos didn't live long enough to enjoy his purloined billions. Same thing happened in Afghanistan -- corrupt politicians stealing most of the money, eager to spend American lives against their enemies, living in luxury in Europe while their people starve. Notice a pattern here? And in each case, the US military attempted to stand up and train a domestic army and in each case, 60 years for the Philippines, 10 years for Vietnam, 20 years for Afghanistan, said effort was a dismal failure and what troops they did manage to assemble surrendered and ran at their first opportunity. That is, when they weren't shooting American troops in the back. I wonder if the Taliban will forbid the poppy fields like they did the first time around. Probably not. I'm sure that the communist Chinese are already cultivating the next crop of powdered Hell to ship to America. Just diversifying that fentanyl business. Maybe it's better that the young'uns don't remember 11 September 2001; the beginning of yet another disaster created by corrupt or incompetent American politicians. And we all know how Ukraine ends: decent, honest people dead, corrupt leaders living as billionaires in Paris or London. So, there. 2

FullClip
Nope, I remember it all too well. We still suffer from it today with the "Patriot Act", the TSA treating us like idiots at the airports, and the US Customs at the border crossings now scrutinizing American citizens coming home, while allowing 1/2 of Latin America to stroll across unchecked. 6

Too many don't learn a thing, and too many don't teach it. If we don't learn, it will be repeated, and that is a tragedy. We are seeing this already if you take the time to look. Don't underestimate how stupid people are. The not only don't want to be educated, they change what we have already learned. Time for that to stop. 3
Fog
The terrorists won because Bush and the deep state used it as an excuse to do a follow up attack on Americans, to attack our God given freedoms, to try and finish the job the terrorists started. Islam is not a religion of peace, it is a political system of war and subjugation. Another lie repeated loud and often by Bush. With the willing toadies in Congress our government made double victims out of Americans. Then went for triple, with years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq. They used our zeal to avenge the death of our people and twisted it into supporting a totally absurd "nation building" scheme that enriched their friends and cost many more American lives. **** George Bush.

A big THANK, Rather, **** YOU to Hillary The TEFLON BITCH Hillary Clinton: Email scandal and Benghazi, whats the deal? : OutOfTheLoop r/OutOfTheLoop•Comments: 17•60 votes (84% Upvoted)June 28, 2016 She had a private email server in her home which she used to send classified information. The emails were not secured like they would have been if she had used her govt issues email. So there was potential for a data breach and no official govt record of to who and what she was sending. Adding fuel to people's anger was that the reason she gave of why she did this was convenience. Also when asked to turn over the emails she held some back saying they were personal (edit: 32,000 actually). This of course got the conspiracy theories going that there were other things she was holding back and didn't want people to see, which creates appearance that she is hiding something (true or not) it makes people react negatively. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillary_Clinton_email_controversy 5 2

Gunboat1
On this day 21 years ago, my good friend, colleague and classmate CDR Dan Shanower was killed in his office at the Pentagon. He was 40 years old. He was single and never got to have a wife and family. In an instant he was gone. I remember. I will never forget. 1 1

Hook
I will never forget. I remember it like it was yesterday I was on my way to mooch a free lunch from my mom and we watched it on the news. I remember going to the store and the store was as full of people but we were all still stunned it was eerily quiet in the store nobody talking no store music. It was weird as hell. Not hearing planes in the sky for days no trains running.
Borg warner
I remember that entire day almost moment by moment from the time I heard the news. Same thing when JFK was shot. But with 9/11 I also remember the weeks that followed and the incredible spirit of unity and patriotism in this country. Sadly, it didn't last. Then. we had people proudly displaying our flag. Now, we have people who are ashamed to be Americans and refuse to stand and salute that same flag. 1

Most people are so shallow today that they don't do anything unless they believe it will ingratiate them with others. They are like lemmings in that they are always following the crowd doing what others do, and saying what others say, so that they will feel like they belong. People of today are afraid of having an opinion that might be different. They are afraid to think thoughts that might be unique, they are afraid to stand up in a crowd. It's like the saying that Japanese children in school will not be like the nail standing high from the rest. They will be beaten down to the level of all. This is the loss of the individual, the loss of the individual identity, and the loss of the individual spirit. The loss of being a person, just training to be one of the masses. To be unique is to be wonderful. Ideas and creativity come from being unique. True leaders come from being unique. To be one of the masses invites you to be a pawn in a game you will not win. 2

Not hearing planes in the sky for days no trains running. Air ambulance flights had to be cleared by the FAA. They were, and done so in a timely manner, but sitting outside the station at night and not seeing planes was strange. We are under one of the holding paths for DFW, among other things. Strange times, and a sick feeling all the time. I remember where I was and what I was doing when the second plane hit. I had been out of pocket earlier, but had turned on the radio when taking a trailer for service.
Batesmotel
I was teaching high school. I will never forget telling my kids what this meant. The look on their faces still haunts me and I mean real nightmares I had been out of the Marine Corps 12 years. Then the Navy called with a job offer that fit my skills. I had been hit by a drunk driver years earlier and couldn’t pass the physical. I wanted back in the fight because I didn’t want my students to bear that burden. 4
tous
Like you, I wanted to re-up and kick ass, perhaps in the reserves again to free up a younger officer for deployment, but I was already too old; maximum age at that time was 40 for active and inactive reserves much less active duty. I had to be satisfied making the aircraft that bombed those bastards into Hell. That said, many of the ex-Navy and Marines that worked at McDonnell Douglas (we were Boeing Defense Space and Security by then, ) especially the aviators, kind of vanished over the next few months. 2
janice6
I remember that a study was done after the skies were cleared because of 9/11. The study was to determine what happened when all the commercial and private aircraft over the United States were grounded and the result was no more contrails. Interestingly enough, the study concluded that the lack of all aircraft contrails resulted in a 6% increase in sunlight hitting the Earth with the subsequent increase in temperature on the ground. It was surprising that all the aircraft contrails were actually blocking some sunlight and causing a slight cooling effect on the earth. It's hard to blow a region back into the stone age when they are presently still in the stone age................ Doesn't mean we should not do it!
