Batesmotel
My son is moving back from San Diego. We are having a hard time renting a moving truck because they won’t rent one way. Everyone is leaving and they can’t get the trucks back. We think we found a small Penske but at a premium price. Big discount if we return the truck. It would be tempting except for gas prices would kill the savings. The liberal California utopian dream has failed. 2
ChuteTheMall
Have you considered stealing a truck in California? What are they going to do about it, cry? 2
Inyo Tim
I'd move out of here myself but I've waited too long. Too old for it now. My county is in Trump country but we suffer the rule of a one party system. Our votes on anything but county issues mean nothing. 3
LostinTexas
Yea it sucks. Fleeing the mess they made and now messing up the places they are fleeing to. I remember when Cali was a fun, beautiful, happening place.
Batesmotel
The final straw for my son and his roommate was the latest rent increase. WAY OVER the legal annual increase percentage. They complained to the city and county. The city said they know it is going on but all the complexes are doing it to everyone. The city is pretty much powerless to stop it. Just no resources to deal with this large of an issue. Like everyone in the city was running red lights with only one traffic cop trying to stop them and no court to take them to anyway. It was a great place and could be again but I think they have killed it. We had a place in Huntington Beach when I was a kid. I spent my summers there. I miss those days. California was cool then.

When not in DC screwing up the rest of the country, she holds up in her walled off compound eating gourmet ice cream. I hope she chokes on it too. 3
Fog
On trucks. I'm gonna have to move the inlaws pretty soon. My plan is to take a truck with me to move them. 4
janice6
CA is so expensive and restrictive people are leaving. With all the social programs and greedy government it only means that the people that remain will have to pay more and more to maintain their feelings that they are the only ones right. This, to the end that everyone will be desperately trying to work and eat while the government will have no problem. Never trust politicians to do what's right. They only care about what you can do for them, not what they can do for you. CA is the living example of how government is more important than the citizens there. Minnesota is vying for second place.

He is moving in with us until he buys a house. He has a nice down payment but is just priced out of the market in San Diego. His employer (game software) can’t do without him and will just let him work remotely.
kerbie18
My vacation in March took me through LA on my way to a cruise ship. I took a tour of Hollywood, and I stayed at a hotel in Long Beach. Even the tour guide, who's job it is to paint everything as rosy, admitted the place is an overpriced dump. Even the tour guide admitted the homeless people are out of control. 1
NPTim
Why not use a pod mover? Load it up and they transport it to wherever. Pods will even store it if you want. 1

Not allowed in the condo complex he is living in. That was our first idea but they don’t allow anything that is not movable because of the extremely tight parking situation. A truck can be moved if needed. Second, pods out of California are more money than the truck right now. He found a small Box Truck last night for less than 2 pods.

If he is moving in with you, you may have to rent a truck where you are, drive it to CA and back home and then return it. Friend of a friend had to do that to get out of Cali.

I lived in L.A from 1959 to to 1969 when I went int the military and it was a great place to live. from 1974 to 1975 I lived in the SF Bay Area but moved back to L.A. and it was still nice. Then the city elected Tom Bradly Mayor and he made L.A the first sanctuary city in the country and the city became overcrowded with illegals and I watched things go downhill from there as the Democrats took over the entire state and destroyed it in every way imaginable. I moved out of there in 1998 and will never go back. I don't even want to see how bad it's become.

He just kept checking every few minutes and snagged one as soon as it showed up. Big trucks were easier but he only needs a 12 ft. Makes me think more individuals and fewer families are moving right now. Pods, trucks and movers out of California are tough to find and pricy.

At that time, their yard in Houston had a shop where they painted lipstick on the pigs they were stuck with from previous Auctions. Things might be different now, but I kind of doubt it. Auctions are always a crap shoot.
