Something new to hate.

A new phrase is “trending”.

On-Trend.  Whatever is the latest trend. Being on the upward side of a new trend curve. On-Trend is a snotty way to shame people for not jumping on the latest fad. I’m already sick of it and I already hate people who haven’t even used it yet.

If we're talking about trending things on YouTube, I really don't mind the word trending, but rather the actual videos that are trending.  I think to myself why?  What makes a certain type of video go viral is a new wonder of the world.  I blame the lack of segregation in entertainment.  There was a time where toddlers, kids, teens, adults, and old fucks all had their own types of entertainment.  Nobody complained and everyone was content.  Then production studios thought it would be cute to make family entertainment that all ages could enjoy.  Now fast forward to what we are today where now kids and teens run the entertainment world.  Say what you want about millennials, genXers, boomers, GIgeners, but none of our entertainment was as autistic and obnoxious as zoomer entertainment.  Bring back segregation!  Let the kids have their entertainment and let me and the rest of the adults have ours!

Trending is circle speak for "all your friends are doing it."

Sometimes I pick on the wife.  I tease her and cajole her into doing something. Invariably its something dumb and the excuse I use to harass her is, "All the girls are doing it!".  It doesn't work but it's fun to tease her.  I find that my Grand daughters are subject to this argument, especially the one in college.

We had a high school graduating class of 700.  I moved to a place (Texas) with a graduating class of 13.

My niece (California), had a graduating class of 7,000.  That's a city.

She did,  whatever twitter-things she did.  She was middle-school and her and her friends would post stupid "movie stories".

My brother's an actor.  She was made for it.  He saw and approved of her postings.

It was just stupid school-girl stuff,  some loosely scripted,  most totally made up, on the fly.

"It's that killer that killed us last week!!!!"  (some homeless guy)

"Well,  why aren't we dead?!?"

"He missed!"

And one of them would put ketchup on their face,  and flop in the backseat,  "He's a pretty fast killer!!!!"

So now,  his middle-school daughter posts got picked-up by some company.

They don't care what her movies are about,  they didn't even see any of them.

They just know that she has 30,000 followers,  and that's 30,000 more people to see their ads.

So now,  his late-'tweens daughter is getting checks,  waaay bigger than you really want your daughter to have.

They controlled the money,  to an acceptable extent.

She's pretty California / actress messed up,  but that's expected.
