DAKA
If you have an "In the door" ice cube dispenser, does yours do this Put glass under lever, press lever, get 4-5 ice cubes, take glass away...and the SOB throws out 3-4 more cubes that land on the floor AND another thing, when you pull a T shirt out of the drawer, does it wind up back to front about 90% of the time?
Cougar_ml
It liked to do that, then it would stick bits of ice in the flapper, letting warm air up into the ice dispenser, allowing it to melt just enough for all the ice cubes to stick together and then jam the mechanism. New fridge has a water dispenser inside the door on the wall by the hinge, and ice dispenser is in the freezer drawer down below. No more ice issues.

Batesmotel
I’ve been in property management and maintenance in some form most of my life. I didn’t allowed them in my properties or in my house. Way to many problems including leaks and flooding. Now let’s talk about the bacterial issues with ice makers and water dispensers.
LostinTexas
Yep. The new one doesn't do it as bad as the old one. I guess the dispenser type makes a difference. Can't help you with your t shirt problem.
NPTim
We won’t get water/ice dispenser. Where we rent, the fridge has it and we haven’t used them in 6-7 years.
Maser
I'm not a fan of buying used appliances that will come in contact with my family's food because God knows what the previous owner was doing with it. Anyways, when we moved into our new house last year we bought a new fridge and they screwed up and the delivery was almost a week late. Had to break down and get a temporary used one until the new one arrived. It had an ice dispenser inside the freezer. Needless to say activating that thing made me feel like I was living inside of Maximum Overdrive and all the electronics took over.
aomagrat
I have an ice maker in the freezer, but the dispenser In the door broke years ago. Now everyone, me included, sticks their unwashed grubby paws into the ice bin to get ice. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.

That is what ran through my mind when folks started dog piling them, If you don't have an ice maker, dispenser or not, then it gets handled at least twice, not to mention every time a hand goes in to it, and who really knows the condition of the ice tray. It is amazing how relatively inexpensive and simple those dispensers are to replace if you are the least bit handy. I figure I lived with one for three decades so good, bad, or indifferent, it hasn't killed any of us.
Walt Longmire
Those things will eventually leak. You might be surprised at the amount of water damage that can happen before it is discovered. I disconnected the one in my home and also the one in my rental.
