I have the GREATEST WIFE in the WORLD!

So I go to a gun store with a range to help out with a Hunter Education class. After I took a look at some guns. They had some older .22 target rifles. I looked at a real nice Remington 513 made in 1974. I looked at the other target guns and asked about any other Winchesters. He said only the beat up 75. My wife told me to just get the 513 because I didn’t do or get anything for my birthday. I told her I wanted to think about it. So we went to dinner.

At dinner I compared prices on the 513 and it was a fair deal. But I went on line and showed her what I really wanted. On of my bucket list guns. A pre 64 Winchester 52. But even I gagged at the current prices.

She convinced me to go back and take another look at the 513 and I decided to buy it. They were looking for the case and one guy thought it was this real old wood case behind the counter. The other guy said No, that one has the gun inside.

My wife asked what’s in it? The guy said I don’t know. No one ever looks at it. He put it up on the counter and I saw the consignment tag on the end.

Winchester #52 1956 Scope Sights Accessories Tools.

I said ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

He got it out and asked if I wanted that one instead of the Remington?

My wife said No. He wants both.

35 years ago I really lucked out.

You also won the lottery.  Having a wife that wants you to be happy is the best thing ever.

I tease my wife in home improvement stores walking through the battery operated tools and she makes me so proud telling me to buy each and every one I fondle.  I don't buy them since I don't do too much tool work anymore, but just having her on my side means the world to me.

I have had guys comment that they wish their wives were like that.

Congratulations on a loving spouse!

My favorite old .22 is one my father found behind the back seat of a used car he bought.  I was around 8 or 10. He walked into the house with it in his hand and asked me if I wanted it.  I loved that gun for all my life.  It was a Winchester Model 74 in .22 Short.  I recently gave it to my son and he in turn gave it to his high school aged daughter.  I couldn't have been happier.

Speaking of old guns, I just got returned to me a 22 rifle my grandmother bought for me in 1952.  It's a Mossberg 152 with a scope.  Scope looks good but is screwed up inside.  Light rust I can clean up most of it and the front sight is missing.  It nothing special other than it's meaning to me.  I still have the original receipt somewhere, it is a carbon copy receipt from the hardware store and says She paid $12.00.  I understand these were made from 1950 - 1957 and there is no serial number.  I'm going to try to restore it to a better condition just for old times sake.

Apparently their fairly common and parts are easy to come by.  Everything seems to functions so when I get time I'll put a couple rounds through it.

I’m WM of my lodge again this year. She is totally supportive of the time it takes me away from here. I am so lucky to have her.

I did that twice and several other offices a few times. My wife supported me entirely. She is also a keeper. tom.
