gwalchmai
I received an email earlier from a GRITS, explaining about pricing and availability of stuff. She said "I appreciate y'all's patience." Such a wonder contraction and probably a shibboleth for "good ole folks".
Administrators Eric Posted April 25, 2022 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2022 If that word had any more contractions, it would go into labor.
railfancwb
In true Southern-speak, “y’all” is singular and “all y’all” is plural. “Can all y’all in the back rows hear me real good?”

tous
Okay, I'm just old and clueless. What the heck is a GRITS, y'all? The cornmeal porridge? The rural newspaper for long ago? Administrators Eric Posted April 25, 2022 Administrators Share Posted April 25, 2022 So, is Polenta just grits for people who make sure their flies are up before going to the dinner table?

tous
Boiled polenta is grits. Polenta allowed to harden and served as a slice is just wrong. But then, it's Italians. I have had grits. I have eaten solid polenta. Same thing, one wet, the other not.

Wife and MIL have "booths" in what I call a flea market, but they call a "Collectibles Antique Mall". The place lost its lease so everybody's got to be out by the end of the month. They're moving to another, um, mall, so my FIL and I have been disassembling shelves and tables and setting up in the new place. Still have a couple of days left. Turns out that the feng shui of antique collectibles is very subtle so movers must have detailed instructions. Like those Mrs. Blandings gave her painters.
