pipedreams
"Silicon Valley is probably the last place you’d expect to hear health warnings related to your cellphone. But that’s where you’ll find Peter Sullivan, a man with a mission to help the public understand how their devices cause real harm. Sullivan started out as one of the biggest fans of a technology he now does his best to avoid. He attended graduate school at Stanford University in Silicon Valley, and later worked as a software designer, rubbing shoulders with people who would go on to design the devices that shape our wireless world. Living on the cutting edge, Sullivan became one of the earliest adopters of wireless technology, but he also got sick from it long before most people knew it was possible. His illness—now known as electrosensitivity—and the realization that it was caused by wireless radiation exposure, pushed Sullivan to find answers. While government regulators and the telecom industry insisted that the level of microwave radiation flowing from his phone was safe, Sullivan talked to several top scientists who found strong evidence showing otherwise." https://www.theepochtimes.com/the-dangers-of-wireless-radiation-and-how-to-protect-yourself_2851000.html http://www.clearlightventures.com/wirelesscard 1

I did a calculation some while ago the resulted in a maximum level of 600 MilliWatts at cell phone frequencies for a Human. This is coincidentally the amount that a Cell Phone generates. However, the orientation of the antenna in the phone makes a world of difference as to the amount of radiated energy the brain is exposed to. I am not giving advice! I am stating only what my results were and nothing more. Yes, I still use a cell phone. Another factor is the wavelength. The shorter the wavelength (higher frequency) the greater the absorption by the body and organs. Cell phones are just below a GigaHertz so they are relatively short wavelength. I have a lifetime of Ham Radio where I ran up to 400 Watts in my vehicles at about 1/4 GigaHertz. Sitting in the drivers seat I was about 4 feet from the antenna on the back of the fender. I have designed and built 1 Kilo Watt RF generators for Medical purposes and none associated with the program had injuries or long term effects. With my work in Lasers I had to have a full eye evaluation every year (for information).

I agree, it good to know but not to overreact. I don't worry that much, but my cellphone isn't tied to me 24/7, like now it's sitting on a table a couple feet away. If you have a medical device like a pacemaker it good to know it should be kept away from the device area.

Funny note: My son told me about a friend of his that shares his love of welding with my son. They both have modern TIGS (mine is old). His friend says that to more easily manage the electrode cables, he drapes them over his shoulder. He also has a Pacemaker! He says that when he triggers the TIG he has a "funny feeling" in his Heart area while the Pacemaker is "stunned" by the large field...... He thinks it's funny. High energy particles from the Sun can also cause DNA damage. The radiation levels are much higher in a commercial airliner than on the ground. LostinTexas
Wait. Are they implying people actually "Talk" on cell phones any more? Who'd a thunk it. Can't get the kids or grandchildren to answer a phone, bu will text before I get my finger off the send button. Good info, but the router is in another room, the phone isn't used much, I don't have a 5G phone, and will still use the thing. The wreck did more to me in a few seconds that cell phone, radio towers, microwave towers, and just about anything else combined have over the course of several decades.

Fog
Going back some years ago my dad had a friend who refused to use a cell phone, not that big of a deal, this was the days of the first Motorola flip phone. He was a geek, had lots of electronic gadgets all over the house, worked for a major tech company, etc. In talking to him I learned he had developed health problems, that his research led him to believe was tied to the exposure to electronics, one symptom was insomnia. At night he would shut off the main breakers into the house and insisted his health had improved. Dunno... Makes you think though.
Batesmotel
I’ve had bigger doses of radiation from traveling at the Nevada Test Site Complex than a cell phone will ever give me. My dosimeter came back in the “Probably” going to be okay range. No one is even allowed to go there now.

The wavelength of 60 Hertz electrical power is measured in miles. If you just assume one mile in wavelength then lay your body along that mile length, you can't absorb a significant amount of radiation to mess with. You have to be a significant portion (or a 1/4 of the wavelength) to absorb the maximum energy. If you are thinking in terms of magnetic field, I spent many years working in Superconductivity and the amount of field strength was phenomenal compared to "normal" magnets. Not a one of us working this project had problems. One guy would put his head into a Bell Jar Vacuum system with an extremely high field applied and claimed he could see black spots moving in his vision. He still isn't suffering in any measurable way from his stupid maneuver. Remember: just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
ChuteTheMall
Every dental procedure seems to require a series of before and after X-rays to show the insurance company that billable work was done. And on the drive home a cop will point his radar at you.
