Walt Longmire
Probably going to be some homes for sale at the end of the street this summer. They didn't really want to live off the grid. 1 1
Fog
People will build and live anywhere. We're building on the side of a cliff right now, known fault line. We bought an insurance rider just for that house, all they wanted was for us to have a soil engineer sign off on the foundation. We didn't pick the homesite or the plan, just building it, but you know who they'll sue if anything goes wrong.

They have been cutting into the mountain for over 100 years. The county still gave permission to build there. Who did they try to sue? The church to the left. Because they have a lot of money. They said excavation for the churches parking lot destabilized the hillside. Judge refused to hear the case.
janice6
Drove through some areas in CA. I now have no sympathy for people that build on the side of hemispheres and whine about rainy season.
tous
Something similar happened when we were living in Scottsdale, Arizona in the early 1960s. Folk has built homes in a dry river bed because, hey, it's the desert. One year, it rained. A lot. River came back to its bed. Houses washed away, but hey. It's the desert. 3

Driving through the Southwest I became wary of the "dry washes" the highway crossed through.
