My 76 Trans Am with a built 455, 4 speed, low geared posi had nothing to be ashamed of.

There was a period where they had so much anti-pollution crap on them that the performance was being hit.

That was the 80's. 70's had some EPA garbage, but it was minor and easily eliminated.

The 80's was the time for low compression anemic engines with air pumps, restrictive exhausts with catalytic converters, and EGR valves.

That **** was all gone from mine. Compression was up. Had a cam, headers, and all the good stuff. 450 horse in a big block.
