My police department has recently relaxed their policy on facial hair. After 20 years, I am allowed to have a short beard, if I keep it trimmed.

The only problem is...facial hair interferes with a gas mask, so that's an issue in a riot.

Oy Veh....such problems   :anim_rofl2:

A friend in the Special Forces was on modified grooming standards for a couple years. They were told to carry a disposable razor to shave their beard in case of a biological or chemical attack. Best part is they never even had field masks with them. But they were given razors.

It's a thing in the Oilfield. H2S will take you out if a whiff gets past the seal. Riot gas? Phuck it. You'll be better off than the BLM/Antifa punks.

Thank you! They act like I'm about to fight Russia or something. Wait, what?

I have to shave several times each year to work in areas that require respirator usage.  It's part of the gig and no big deal to me,  After a week, it's grown scruffy enough that I don,t care.

Only, when I'm newly shaved, I see my sister when I look in the mirror.

In the real deal the mask might save 10% if their fast enough and then inject themselves.  My opinion the masks are a feel good thing  like duck and cover.  They most likely didn't have masks in the field since they understood grim facts and there just something else to strap on.

I was the NBC training NCO in my Marine rifle company. I took a bottle of vanilla extract and put drops on guys necks when they were wearing an M7 mask. If they could smell vanilla they would have been killed by any G-Class or better agent. Most guys smelled it.

MOPP 4 was much better. But that takes prior knowledge of exposure.
