Lindsey Graham shocks GOP when he caves to identity politics: 'You're becoming irrelevant

"Sorry, Lindsey Graham, you're exactly the type of politician that we don't need any more," Dave responded. "We don't need that pandering drivel. Nobody is saying that there aren't thousands ... probably hundreds of thousands of qualified black women to sit on the Supreme Court ... but as a marker, as the original starting point ... will just be black women, not that you're not going to pick the best person because the best person might be a black woman, well, first, it's against the law. It's against the law to hire based on skin color and gender. That's number one, a law by the way that had a little something to do with the Supreme Court in the first place. But also, this pandering drivel, that's why you're becoming irrelevant, Lindsey Graham."

Are there any in the Democrat party equivalent to Rinos?

Nope.  There are Plenty of Liberal Republicans but there is no such thing as a Conservative Democrat anymore. The last one remaining alive in captivity after retirement from the US Senate was Zell Miller a Senator from Georgia. After his death Conservative Democrats have become extinct.

However there is a species of Democrat that pretends to be Conservative at election time when running in a conservative district, and then marches in lockstep with the rest of the party after being re-elected

So, this judge lady that he was raving about…she’s not competent?

She might be. But it's completely irrelevant.  To start off with the first requirement that the next appointee be a black female - that's a hideous way to go about picking Justices.  It removes from the pool any number of other non-female, non-black people who might be more competent.  The first and ONLY requirement should be "Who is the most competent person to fill this position on the Supreme Court?" without any regard to gender, color, religion, age, etc.  Anything else over time will result in less competence on the Court (or in a gov't bureaucracy, or a business, or any other entity hiring by standards that do not place competence in the position as the first criteria) than would exist by using competence as the first criteria.

Let be honest, the Supreme Court is a highly political body, and picks are always politics first, qualifications somewhere later.

It's a waste of time to talk about the most qualified person, because that is always secondary.

Qualified has a few minimum standards (be a judge for some years at some level etc etc.), but most qualified is an opinion, and whoever is in charge gets the call.

At least this case is a liberal replacing a liberal.  No net change except for the longevity extension.

My fondest hope is that Joe nominates Kamala because he needs to dump her incompetent unlikeable ass.  Top of her class in the Hillary Clinton charm school.

It goes to a vote in the Senate and she fails there.  An unemployed Kamala is an acceptable job loss.

If Kamala is no longer claiming the title of VP for any reason, Hillary will probably get the title. And shortly thereafter Biden will no longer be occupying the White House
