Obiden has already stated he plans to replace Breyer with a black female. Just great. Appoint someone based on race and gender rather than qualifications.

The "Law" means nothing to democraps.   They want to run the court with "emotion and Fairness".  Screw "Law"

Given the fact that he is the oldest member of the court, it makes sense to retire. Also, at his age, you never know if he has medical problems he isn't disclosing to the public (kinda like Biden). Ruth Bader Ginsberg stayed on way too long given her health problems towards the end of her life.

The timing is good politically too, since he can be replaced by another liberal just like him....

Ginsberg totally screwed Obama by thinking she was going to live forever. Worked out well for America. FJB/LGB.

I saw online that Kumallova Harris is being considered. Never mind she has zero experience. Oh, and she ain't black either.

But she was the AJ for one of the biggest states in the country.  She also is a "woman of color"  check her resume..

There are NO requirements to hold the office.

Aside from politics - if it is possible to set politics aside - would the citizens be better served with at least one Supreme Court justice from a non-law school background?

I think so, yes. With the current admin, of course, it doesn't matter.

OTOH, maybe a doctor would be a good choice...
