gwalchmai
I saw an interview in which he said that Gus was his favorite role (of course he may have been bullshitting). McMurtry wrote the character for Jimmy Stewart, but I think most would agree that Duvall owned it. The role in Falling Down was excellent, too. So were many others.
Valmet
He’s arguably the greatest living actor. He lives around my hometown on a farm and I’ve seen him on occasion driving an old beater farm truck around with his dog riding shotgun. Neat guy. 4

jfost11
I don't think I've disliked any role he's played. Best? I'm not sure where to even begin. Lonesome Dove is the first thing I ever saw him in as a kid, at least that I can remember. I've watched Days of Thunder more times than I can count. Open Range always finds it's way onto the TV if its being broadcast. Gone In 60 Seconds also got played countless times in my house. I had low expectations of Secondhand Lions when I rented it long ago. I only did because he was in it. Needless to say, it is outstanding. Loved him in Jack Reacher. Even the lesser known Assassination Tango and Seven Days in Utopia were enjoyable for me. 3
Borg warner
One of his first roles was Playing Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird" His brief presence on the screen was spellbinding. Reading that book was my 11th grade English assignment and the movie came out that year.

I'm glad I was too young to see the movie when the series cam out, they were night and day different. I liked Gould as Trapper and Kellerman was way hotter than Swit, but Swit nailed the role.
