Walt Longmire
Something woke me up around 4:15 am this morning. I lay there for a moment and then heard a thud. I thought it was a car door shutting in my driveway, so I got up to check. Nothing. Then I hear more thuds. I went out buck naked on my deck to listen. I could hear what sounded like distant explosions to the southwest. It went on for 15 minutes. When I checked this morning, I found out it was caused by the shockwaves from the Tonga eruption 6000 miles away. People reported hearing it all over southern Alaska. From Valdez to way out in the Aleutian chain and up in the Matsu valley. 4

No booms here in central Colorado, but Colorado Springs reported a substantial drop in atmospheric pressure as the shock wave passed.

Batesmotel
A friend is with the USGS Seismic Station at the U of U. Scientists all over the earth are going nuts with the new data they collected from this eruption. Something about how sharp the blast was.
