Fascinating!

In grade school we had a quarter class to teach us printing.  We had a small press and individual cast letters, and we assembled our text just as they did line by line in the movie.  Then we printed some crap much like the teachers did with the mimeographs.

I went to the local newspaper company in my hometown and watched them using the linotype machines.  It was remarkable.  they would print the day's news and then melt the cast half round pages to use to cast the next day's print.  In my youth I was fortunate to find that if you expressed an interest in someone else's work they were happy to show you what and how they did it.  Now lawyers have taken all that real time education and made it liable so no youngsters could see "on the job" talent at work.
