Walt Longmire
Dropped this one yesterday. Bucked, split and ready to burn. Near my remote, off grid cabin.
gwalchmai
I just finished stacking some poplar, oak, and cedar I split last week. That cedar's pretty. 4
Walt Longmire
Is that Tennessee cedar? I grew up in the PNW surrounded by western red cedar. Cut shakes as a kid. Worked in cedar mills. Then out logging. Love the smell, and one whiff brings back a ton of memories.

Dead standing? Or will you have chimney issues?

I enjoy the aroma, too.
Walt Longmire
Always enjoyed working in the cedar. All huge old growth. Love the aroma. No pitch. Resists rot. Easy to work with. I have a building stuffed to the rafters with cedar burl slabs. I will start selling them someday. The largest burl I ever cut was 7 feet in diameter. A friend took it for a dining room table. For years I had a chair carved into a 6' diameter cedar stump that sat on my concrete patio under an overhanging roof. Had a view of the Pacific Ocean.
