Lucky or Disturbing?

I found a 10mm socket today and I wasn’t even looking for one. Ever since, I’ve been wondering if that was a stroke of luck, or did I step through some rift into a place I shouldn’t have been? I mean, it’s a 10mm socket and that’s great news, but once they disappear, they are NEVER seen again, so it is oddly disturbing. Should I buy a lottery ticket or barricade myself into a bunker? What are your thoughts?

If something is universal, it means that it doesn’t fit anything properly. Get the right tool for the job and if the right tool is a 10mm socket, watch it like a ******* hawk.

If you're the one who has to put up the Christmas tree in your household, your hands will be thanking you if you use one of those universal sockets on the eye screws that hold the tree in place.

Nah, it was in a box with some old office-related stuff in my storage room.

Then you failed to pierce the space-time continuum and enter the Twilight Zone.

And find all of your lost socks.

And other 10mm sockets.

:sigh:

I keep buying the elusive sockets until everywhere I turn there is one right at hand.  Don't laugh, I really do!

Definitely buy a lottery ticket.  Isn’t one of the over a quarter B now?

It's funny, but.  My wife likes to gamble small change.  I have tried since I was young but I just can't force myself to do it.  I don't believe I get anything I didn't work for and over the years that has proven to be true for me.

However, when we went to Vegas our first trip, there was nothing to do but throw money away.  So, I used the Quarter machines and kept myself busy with the idea that unless I was fantastically lucky (I believe you make your own luck) I was just giving my change away to the casino.

I did find that you can win just a little to reduce the perpetual losing so you could go for quite a time.  For the most part I enjoyed sitting in an almost empty section of the slot machines from 2AM to around 5AM all by myself with only the drink girl showing up to see how I was doing.

I got into some nice conversations with them. All the while getting free weak drinks since she didn't have many customers and she had to appear to keep busy.  Eventually I would get quite buzzed and tire of talking with girls that gave me terribly bad thoughts about how to spend my idle time, and go to bed.

I had no delusions.  Most of the girls I talked with were very nice and talked about their family and friends, so it was enjoyable.  But it's also fun to fantasize.  So, we pissed away a predictable amount in the time allotted and went home with a happy wife that got to gamble and have some fun without her bitchy husband complaining about how much she spent.

I have tried to get her to play the lottery occasionally.  I can't do it, but!  I also recognize that the odds of winning anything are zero if you don't play, and close to zero if you do.  Realistically, an infinitesimal chance is still better than zero.  So far with my encouraging, she has refused.  Go figure.

HUH!  You think you know somebody and when push comes to shove, you find out they really are different.
