Beautiful kata.  The footwork (and at the times, the hand motions) are very similar to a Japanese Jo (48 inch staff) kata.  It's almost strange how universal techniques for various weapons follow the same trend even though developed in cultures that communicated very little, if at all.

The reviews for the new movie are gushing.  I'll assume that.

I've seen the play a dozen times (once off-Broadway).  All were great.  I know the songs.  By heart.

My brother was in one play,  as the soda-shop owner.  He acted like a downer old-man.  He grew into that part.

I played in the orchestra (first woodwind; clarinet, flute, alto saxophone) that produced West Side Story for the Municipal Opera in St. Louis.

It was a big deal for me; many of the other musicians were from the St. Louis Symphony or professionals.  I was just a dopey high school kid, but I could blow, Daddy-O.

And I worked cheap.

Meaning free.

After the hundredth time, the music of Bernstein and the words of Sondheim sort of lose their magic.

I also played for Oklahoma and Camelot.

We were required to learn music ( the recorder) in England.  (And three languages), in the first form.

Not a flute-o-phone.

That's some kind of bastardization of art, that only America can come up with.

I was chosen to play the National Anthem,  at the start of the talent show, in fourth grade.

But...  I was dressed up like Herman Munster,  for our skit,  and the powers-that-be said that Herman can't play the Anthem.

So...  I didn't care, either way.

Flute-o-phones are these plastic squeaky things,  that come from your lips.  I didn't know that until later.

The recorder can take 10 minutes,  before the bottom of your throat kicks in,  and blows right.

You don't want me about around Christmas,  because I can blow that ivory from the bottom of my lungs.

Pretty haunting.

No disrespect meant but to fight with a knife is bs.

I got chastised pretty good for calling out folks here about fantasizing about knife fighting.

I like a good piece of cutlery as much as anyone, but that fantasy is not what folks want to think of it.

Use what you've got.  Even a sharp stick can beat a harsh word.

If  life has degraded to the point of needing to use a knife, one should really rethink their choices. If you get the chance.

Sometimes you don't get a chance to control the choices.
