I won't fill out your survey.

Really tired of being asked to fill out surveys all the time "For a chance to win $500!"

No, all that does it get me spam, unwanted texts, unwanted phone calls, etc.

I had a cashier be extra helpful. I found the manager and told him. He told me I had to fill out the survey because without good feedback to the survey system the cashier would never benefit from doing a good job. I told him that was a broken system.

Even fast food places. I mean, come on, I only eat there when I'm in a hurry and they think I'll have time for a survey.  Not likely McFreakinDonalds!

The best one was the barber shop. Not my regular one, he was off due to injury for a couple weeks, so I went down the block. Two lady barbers run it now, used to be a couple old guys. Anyway, they want me to fill out an online survey so they would know if they did a good job. I told them if it took a survey to know that they needed more practice.

Oh well, rant over.

I ain't got no problem letting them know where they fucked up, but they're almost never worthy of a response.

Would they pay attention? Would they even read it? Or is “the survey” really just a way to gather information for future spam?

“…for a chance to win…” Ever hear of any real person winning? Reminds me of…

The Donkey Contest

Couple guys saw an ad “Donkey $100”

They paid their money, but when they got there the donkey was dead and their money all spent.

Took the donkey and ran their own ad

“Win a donkey $2 per ticket, one ticket per customer, only 100 tickets to be sold”

In due course all tickets had been sold and a winner drawn. When the winner came to get the donkey he was told

“We are sorry, but the donkey died. Here is a $2 refund on your ticket.”

*****
And a donkey isn’t even needed!

Or a real sure enough winner.

I filled out one for the local McDonald's when the wife brought home dinner from there late last year. I gave up going there long before because it always sucks after breakfast but, it was late, and the kids wanted it, so she gave in.

I mainly wanted to point out to anyone who would listen that this location had been a complete **** show after breakfast for a long time. I actually got a call back from a guy, I forget who he was, but he was quite apologetic and frank about the quality of the hiring pool at the time which from the trainees I see at work, I could understand.

I ended up with vouchers for a few free meals out of it but I've never used them. Whenever the kids scream for McDonald's burgers and fries I take them to the little sports bar at the end of my street. It has aced every health inspection since it opened. It costs more, but the place is clean, the food is as hot as the waitresses, and there's fried pickles and beer. I'd rather put tips directly into the hands of someone trying to do a good job than support the salary of some screw up that doesn't give a **** at all.

^^This. I have a pizza delivery, Chinese delivery, a hot dog shop and a favorite bar/restaurant that we frequent on a regular basis. They all serve good food, priced right and very good service. They get great tips as they know how to treat us. tom.

Last year, after restaurants were allowed to reopen, we went to one of the local places we occasionally dined at. It turned out that we were the only people in the place. That particular night was supposed to be one where families from the local gym went there to show support. Our waitress, whom we had seen before, had everything at the table before we could even ask. I felt bad for her and left her a $50 tip.

Unfortunately the owner, who was already struggling enough after the covid shutdowns, had to have major back surgery and shut down for good a month later. My arteries probably breathed a sigh of relief but, I was in mourning over the loss of my favorite burger. A half pounder topped with pulled pork, a large onion ring, and pimento cheese.

The lifespan of good local restaurants and service is too easily lost to support shitty chains that will never die due to close interstate traffic.

We've supported these places thru the shut downs hoping to keep them afloat. It worked. tom.

definitely with you on this.  I am OVER being asked to fill out stupid surveys.  Life is too short to waste it doing that.

If it is not worth their time to listen to me and learn from it, then it's not worth my time to give them feedback.

Why should I tell them how to run their business so that it favors customers, for free, when they won't take the time to listen to one.

I often call the manager of restaurants over to praise my waitress/waiter and tip well. I rarely have to warn managers of bad service. I have never been asked to fill out surveys in lieu of verbal praise.

I get surveys with “a chance to win” about medicine all the time. I never fill them out. I only opine for an honorarium.
