Is interesting.  I can see where you might think that.  The "gear" thing on the bottom of his, and the rounded top on his...Probably not.  But I hear ya.

The gear thing also looks a lot like ar15.com's logo.

Yes, it is a gear and a hard hat. I'm not accusing the guy of anything. It just strongly reminded me of a combination of my logo and arf.com's logo, but like I said, that could be a coincidence. The similarities just caught my eye.

Bears more than a passing resemblance to the TBS logo. I wonder if that is simply a coincidence, or if he saw mine, at some point?

Interesting building method.

Either way, he's a copy cat. The intro music is from the TFL Truck channel.

I've been doing this stuff too long. When you said TFL, I immediately thought 'The Firing Line'.

I got banned over there as well, many moons ago, because I corrected one of the mods all the time when he gave bad reloading advice. One day he listed all the presses and gear he was using to make a point for his superior knowledge. When I posted a photo of my lab grade certified reloading scale, being worth more than all his reloading gear together, he not only banned me from posting, he purged every single post I had ever written.

I'm thinking of a lecture I heard, can't remember if it was in person or maybe a TED thing.

Anyway, it was about commonality of appearance, design, shape and even function across seemingly unrelated areas of technology. Basic geometry finding it's way into every element of the built world and every corner of the natural universe.

In a way it's as simple as a tire is round, as anything that rolls or spins is round, at least on the axis even if projections are present that don't have a round form.

So a basic form representation of parts specific to one type of technology will resemble parts from another area.

Hopefully that makes sense. I'll probably read this tomorrow and go "What is that idiot talking about?"..."Wait! I wrote that?"

LEGO's is what I thought after 1 minute.

Interesting idea.

Did you notice though that they didn't put any plumbing or electrical in the block walls and the framing they nailed up in the interior seemed too shallow for it?

I can top that. The owner at the time (Rob) banned me because he liked to constantly call Cops "civilians".

I posted the Webster dictionary definition of Civilian. Yup, that did it.

Definition of civilian

 (Entry 1 of 2)

1: a specialist in Roman or modern civil law
2a: one not on active duty in the armed services or not on a police or firefighting force

I ran a bigger forum back in the mid to late 90s and was a mod on a handful of forums and chat rooms over the years. The point of "enjoying" that responsibility gets lost quickly. You have to face stress and deal with it in the interest of the board and not how you feel about the topics or members. Takes a lot of composure.

I'm owner, admin and mod in my day trading chat room. I found a loophole in the chat software that removes my name from the owner / admin / mod group and any indication of that. Many members don't even know that it is my chat room. Same with my mods. None of them can be identified easily.

The only user that stands out in its own group, is my self-coded bot. That thing is perceived as being neutral.

This configuration needs basically zero moderation. I didn't have ANY fighting, name calling, trolling in 2 years.

Yup, being a Moderator is a truly thankless job. I turned down several offers as I want to enjoy my time on a board.

I mod'd one single forum on a board that unfortunately had some "high maintenance" type trouble makers. That taught me if you mod any board or forum it will be a true challenge to enjoy the board more than feeling the weight of working it.

That's why I'm not real critical of moderators on a board, tough hat to wear.

Respectfully

Once upon a time I was active on another board and in fact was invited to come on over to TBS to enjoy its “Caterday” thread as well. Don’t recall being warned about anything there, just signed in less and less as characters whose participation I enjoyed disappeared for whatever reasons.

Tried to go onto the site recently and all had changed. Gave it up as a lost cause.
