I have given up watching movies. There is so much background noise in them and loud music, that it's impossible to understand most of the dialog. I think that is one of the reasons I enjoyed the Longmire series. The actors weren't a bunch of low talking mumblers, and there wasn't a bunch or background stuff over powering the dialog. I tried to watch a couple other series since and gave up in the first few episodes due to not being able to understand. I doubt hearing aides would help that. Now I turn on the closed caption, and turn the sound down.

You're right.  The technology isn't that new, the patents are!
