Walt Longmire
My Golden Pyrenees was scratching at her ear. It obviously bothered her. I got her to lay down so I could take a look. Moved the hair out of the way. All I could see was black. Got a flashlight. Her ear was full of black wax. WOW. I dumped some olive oil in and gave her a massage on the base of the ear. BTW the other ear looked normal. She got up headed for the door shaking her head. Out she went. Then I noticed a gob of the black wax on the floor the size of a pea. Later I used cotton balls and peroxide to clean both ears. The one was pretty messy. She's all better now. I will be hauling snow in town today. Afterwards I will stop at the feed store and pick up some ear cleaning stuff for her. The mess she had going on didn't stink, so I think it was just wax buildup, and not an infection or mites. Check your dog's ears.

Batesmotel
This stuff is wonderful. It keeps their ears clean. Buy online. Squirt it in and massage. Let them shake it out. Never buy the crap from pet stores or big box stores that contains glycerin. It attracts fungus spores and dirt.

janice6
All my dogs loved to have my thumb rubbing in their ears from as far as it would go in, to the outer end. If I didn't know better it could have been Love! Anyway our new Sophie is a little wary of us. So I decided to go for soft talk, butt scratching, and rubbing inside her ears. Now my wife thinks she likes me best. I really do try to find something the animal really loves, and if it's legal and moral, I'll give it a shot. At least I check their ears in the process. My first breakthrough was yesterday when she was whining and I told her to get a toy to play. Damned if she didn't, and we played tug and fetch with a lot of growling by both parties. I noted earlier she is a 14 year old rescue, and she seems to have extensive training. I'm trying to find the right words for her now. She's coming into our family beautifully.

I have to clean mine quite often to minimize the buildup of wax in my hearing aide. Damned small holes.

I get that too. Happens on the ear against the pillow. The side I sleep the most time on.

Use to lay my Boston terrier down and clean his ears with Q tips every couple of weeks. He really loved it . Stopped him from scratching his ears for 2 weeks. Me? I wear hearing aids, which makes wax worse. My hearing aid guy told me..."put peroxide in each ear for a couple minutes each week, then use Qtips.". .my God does it itch when the peroxide starts bubbling...but WOW... afterwards. holyjohnson
my Shar-Pei and Pitbull both had pollen allergies and ears would fill up with some nasty ass waxy grease. they both learned to love the Q-Tips and Ear Solution. i have to flush my ears out once or twice a year too, my leg doesn't thump on the carpet when i do it though.... 2
