Who else is an only child? Bonus, did you marry one?

Yup.  Only brat.  Supposidly had a sister that died.  Married a girl with a brother 6 years older than her.   Basically she's an only child too.  After 55 years together...we sorta "get along"...and our kid understands us.  What more could I ask for?

In the “old south” and no doubt other rural areas where multiple generations of a few families are still in place, there are entire family trees with phrases like “second cousin once removed”. I know people, and in fact have relatives, that understand such refined points of relationships. But I don’t understand them. I also know that when people were few and far between and travel was mostly by horseback or buggy, some family names could end up on both sides of a future family tree.

Single brat as well, and I love being alone. I don't need or want anybody around me, those days are a thing of the past. Love the freedom and peace, zero drama in my house. I post a few times a day on a couple forums and chats, that's plenty of "interaction" for me. This level of independence seems scary to some, so I have heard.

It's tough explaining to your kids why there's no such thing as cousins, aunts, and uncles. Especially when all 4 grandparents have passed too.

Nope. I'm the oldest of three boys. My dad was an only child but my mom came from a family of 3 boys and 3 girls. She grew up on a farm in northeast Iowa. Being the oldest, I was an only child for about 4 years and I can still remember it. I remember when they brought my little brother home from the hospital and I remember when he was a baby.

I'm an only child but my wife is not. She has a younger brother here, and a sister, and three half-sisters in another state. To make a long story short, it would be less of a PITA by far if the wife were an only child as well.

I have a brother and a sister and I haven't heard from them in years.

That is a shame. One day it will be too late.

This thread is pretty much exactly what the left and the rest of the environmentalist and ruling elite have hoped for and pursued with their propaganda over the years.

No one had to fight a war to conquer the dinosaurs. They just faded away and the cockroaches got all their stuff.
