"To each their own"

This just irks me. "Each" is singular, and should be followed by a singular possessive, which should by default be "his", since we're talking about mankind. If you know the "each" is female in gender then "to each her own" is proper. And the gender is either male or female. There are no other options.

So now you know the hill upon which I'll make my stand.

Also, I haven't received any junque email this morning. Is gmail down?

"Each person is free to to buy what they want."

"Each car has man options."

"Each rifle comes with one clipazine."

So...no, "each" does not necessitate being followed by a singular possessive.

My recollection of long ago was that you are correct and the only form I have heard this phrase in, was "To Each His Own".

In the long run a lot of today's politically correct machinations will look hilarious to future generations.  What kind of mass hysteria drove people to wear powdered wigs in the past?  What will drive them to wear them in the future?

Dumbing down American English by eliminating even the most vague reference to gender is a giant step backwards to some sort of a caveman language.

1: just another example of doing it wrong.

2 and 3 don't really fit because the pattern is a singular subject and a possessive, not a subject and verb. i think you misunderstood my tirade.

The late, lovely Olivia DeHavilland agrees with you. ?
