pipedreams
When I was a kid it was still Armistice Day. Since veterans aren't politically correct enough they will probably rename it Public Service Day so everybody on the government payroll can take the day off and still get paid. 6

xromad
I really like it since they gave us all the day off, rather than the Government employees!

Walt Longmire
Lots of veterans in my family. Some saw combat, others didn't. My oldest son was in the very last group of Americans to exit Mogadishu as the skinnies were shooting their way onto the base. 603rd Transportation, attached to the 10th Mountain Division as a QRF. He was in one running gun battle where he got resupplied 3 times. That's a lot of shooting.

My bunk mate in Basic went to the 10th Mountain Div. he got there just in time for the entire division to be roadmarched from FT Stewart, GA, to FT Drum, NY. It took them a month. That had to be a pisser of a roadmarch.
Walt Longmire
The small logging town I grew up in had the longest kept P.O.W. Marine in Vietnam. The only people kept longer than him were Air Force. He was in with McCain even. 3 different POW camps, Tiger cages, the whole deal. Sgt Richard Burgess. Look him up. He's still alive btw.
