Triumph Mayflower (1949–53 UK)

The Triumph Mayflower was an attempt by Triumph to manufacture a luxury small car that, as its name suggests, was to appeal mainly to the US market. It shared some components with the Standard Vanguard and had a motor that was based on that of the Standard Ten. Its body was largely inspired by the Rolls-Royce and Bentley luxury limousines of the era, most notably the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, but was much smaller, thus making the design and proportions look rather odd. The body was also rather heavy, which combined with the small motor made the car underpowered and slow, reaching a top speed of 63 mph.

That is a hell of a thing to do to a Toronado. It was a popular choice for a lot of similar customs though, because it was a full-size FWD. they used to make huge airport limos out of them as well. Notice the sidepipe behind the rear tire.

The sedan looks like the love child of a BMW 2002 and a Peugeot.

Now that Stellantis has merged or bought about every car company except Toyota and General Motors, will we see them try to sell Peugeots in the US again?

Anyone else hate it that a Dutch company owns Jeep?  :sigh:

I didn't know about the Jeep sale. tom. :(

A company called Stellantis based in the Netherlands   merged/took over FCA (Fiat Chrysler)  sometime last year, I think.

FCA was never a good fit and was floundering during the world-wide pandemic (Intentional Chinese Lock Down.)

Thus, Stellantis owns Jeep.

Also note that a Chinese automobile company has a large stake in Stellantis.

The communists will likely increase that share of ownership until they control the company.

Chrysler has been sold more times than a prostitute on 42nd Street.

Mebbe it's time for them to join all of the other failed, though fondly remembered, car companies.

Recall that Chrysler bought out American Motors specifically to get Jeep.

I would love to see Elon Musk buy Jeep.

Keep it American.
