Systemic Police Racism: A collection of fairy tales

The Washington Post, that portent of conservative journalism, has slid the rug under the clay feet of progressives. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/national/police-shootings-2019/

Police officers were involved in fatal shootings 1,004 times in 2019. Forty-one of those were unarmed people.

Of those forty-one (41), nineteen white people, unarmed, were shot and killed by the police last year. Nine, unarmed, were black.

Please don't mistake the current activities in the Nooz for and outcry against an officer killing someone. Yes the man was murdered and the offending parties are all under arrest, but the party and band play on.

Some have warned for years about the militarization of the police forces. It will inevitably lead to a degree of separation between the protectors and the public.

the people don’t see a ninja suited, body armored, AR carrying, response team as protecting and serving. Though in some circumstances it is well justified.

those circumstances are being approved much more easily. With many more inadvertent “no knock” raid shootings, incorrect addresses, overwhelming entry mistakes.

SWAT, Rapid Response Teams, Entry Teams, etc are well trained and unfortunately have a place in the system when they are really needed. But....the drop of a hat (in some departments) is not justification for the armored vehicle and Tac Team.

Police don't suffer from racism.  They suffer from character contentism.

"where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." - ML King

In 15 years of being a police officer in cities like Chitcago, Memphis, Little Rock, Jackson MS, St. Louis and others....(using democrat controlled cities because that is where cause and effect is the strongest) an officer will see the results of the most violent crimes most of us cannot imagine.  We read of the deaths of young people in Chitcago every weekend, but we don't think it through to the point that we realize there were officers called to that scene, covered the bodies, and stood guard during the immediate investigation.

When 12 year old black girls are grabbed on the way to school, taken to an abandoned house and raped, we never think about the officers who respond to that call, and deal with the aftermath.

When the bodies of abduction\rape\murder victims are found discarded in a ditch, we don't think about the cops who respond to that scene, see the bodies, protect evidence, and control the scene.

In the majority of those crimes the officers see the result of, they are committed by one specific group.  Officers respond to the worst examples of humanity we can only imagine.

It's not the race of the criminal, it's the content of the criminals character.  I have no doubt that when you see it day in and day out, it can be hard to separate character from race because one would seem to imply the other.

It's not surprising that the occasional officer loses control, and pushes a little too hard.  What's surprising is it doesn't happen on a daily basis.  For that, they should be recognized.
