pipedreams
I understand Elmax is supposed similar to CPM-154 but I'm not familiar with it. Any pros or cons to Elmax ? Was looking at some Guardian Tactical knives made in Texas and they listed Elmax blades in some of their knives.
minderasr
Don't quote me as I'm no expert, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night. CTS-204P is supposed to be similar to Elmax in strength/edge retention. But if I recall correctly 204P has higher rust resistance. I learned this watching a gaggle of Microtech YouTube videos, but couldn't point you to a specific one.

minderasr
More info on Elmax steel. Produced by Bohler-Uddenholm, ELMAX steel is a "high chromium-vanadium-molybdenum-alloyed steel," made of 1.7 percent carbon, 18 percent chromium, .3 percent manganese, 1 percent molybdenum, .8 percent silicon, and 3 percent vanadium. This composition allows for the metal to have a high wear resistance, high compressive strength, superior corrosion resistance, and a very good dimensional stability, or the ability to retain its size and form even after taking abuse. https://bladeops.com/elmax-steel/

Fnfalman
I’m more concerned about proper heat treatments AND the correct application of steel for use than any super steel selected just for the sake of coolness.
Moshe
Do you make your own? I am not being facetious, it sounds like you are well versed on blades.
