railfancwb
This is normally treated and thought of as a joyful welcome to the new year. It might more realistically be considered to be mourning for what has been lost. 1

railfancwb
My late wife and I used to enjoy an out of the way restaurant with salad bar, good steaks, and an ambience aided by easy listening music from our dating years. This song, not necessarily by this artist, was fairly frequently on the play list. Think I’m now much farther along than the title suggests... And I should stay away from this thread.

railfancwb
Found to my surprise that “Softly...” and “Unchained Melody” by Elvis were opposite sides of a vinyl “single” when released. And this posting should move the thread back onto the first page...

Maser
I posted this song at another forum earlier and it's been stuck in my head ever since. It's suppose to be a happy song, but for some reason it sounds sad to me. Maybe I just secretly wish I was a teenager in the 1960s.

You are one of many, reacting to those songs. When I hear songs from the middle and late 50's, I can still remember the taste of the Cherry Coke, the taste of a cigarette, and the smell of a lovely girl. I expect I'll be reminded of these wonderful things till the day I die.
