  1. I have mixed feeling about this. I understand the frustration behind the closures and quarantines. I am not happy about it, either. But I have had 2 friends die from the Communist Chinese Virus this week. Both felt the quarantine was bull**** and refused to stay home. Both were healthy and under 50. I have an uncle in the hospital now who was diagnosed with the virus, he is 80 and healthwise a train wreck. It looks like he is going to survive. My cousin's youngest son, 23 and healthy and was taken off a ventilator last week. It looks like he is going to make it. The one thing they all had in common was a disdain for the shelter in place orders. I live in a county where, during the summer months the population triples, from about 70,000 to over 200,000 people. Almost all of that increase comes from NYC, which is the epicenter of the virus. The locals here are trying to get the summer camps shut down but the state has blocked every attempt. We are sweating blood, waiting to see what happens with the virus comes up with them, because we really expect it is going to be bad.

  3. There is about 10 lines in this scene, but the best is "I can't buy a pack of smokes..."
  4. Perhaps not my fondest, but certainly my strongest memory of Thanksgiving dinner is my grandmother's oyster dressing. I tried it once, when I was maybe 10 years old, and it was just horrible. Grandma asked if Iliked it, and not wanting to hurt her feelings, I said yes. She got all happy, and told me that she and I were the ones in the family that did. I had to eat that crap every Thanksgiving for another 25 years, just so I wouldn't hurt her feelings!
  5. We took the grandkids and one of the pups to a local waterfall last month. Buttermilk Falls, in Sundown, NY.
  6. This bridge is near Whitehall, in the Adirondack Mountains in NYS.
  7. I didn't go to my senior prom, have not gone to any reunions, and don't intend to. I hated high school, and have no desire to relive or reminisce about a single moment, especially with a group of people that I did not like. The 3 guys I graduated with that I were tight with felt the same, and they have all since passed away.
  8. Redheaded women make me weak in the knees.
  9. A few years back the Superintendent for the New Jersey State Police was quoted that gun control is not about controlling guns, but controlling people.
  10. Well, did you get it? I had one in .30 Remington, essentially a rimless, 30-30, and wish I had kept it.
  11. A lot of you guys know I tend bar for a living, and deal with 100's of people each week. Where I work is a pretty good cross section of America, culturally, ethnically, and money wise. We have working class people as well as some who are what one can describe as the liberal elite. There are very few of any demographic who are Trump supporters, and I see and hear from a lot of people who voted for him the first time say they would not do so again. Most only voted for Trump because they could not vote for Hillary Clinton. I think we are going to see a voter turnout on an epic scale that will set a record, and those are the ones who will be voting for anyone but Trump. If he is to win a 2nd term those who support him are going to have to come out in record numbers, too, and I really don't think there will be enough this time for him to win. I hope I am wrong.

I don't know who she is, but man, she is a beautiful woman!
  13. I can think of at least 25 people I know who have OD'd in the past 3 years. Not personal friends, but bar patrons from the bars I have worked at. Sad, but they have no one to blame but themselves. I really am losing interest in trying to save people who do not want to be saved. I know of one guy who was saved by Narcan 6 times in a week, twice in one day. As for close to home, we are dealing with a grandson who was sexually abused by his mother's boyfriend for several years. Raped. Sometimes with mom in the room, stoned out of her mind. Yeah, the kid has issues and I don't think he can be saved, but I hope I am wrong. He is a raging ball of anger who hates the world. I don't blame him at all.
  14. Too hot outside, so we were hanging out by the AC today. That's the sound you here. video-1563381882.mp4

  16. Ah, yes, Lucas Electrics, the Prince of Darkness. You guys are taking me waaaaaay back.
  17. I have always thought Norman Rockwell one of America's premier artists. His illustration of emotion in this painting blows me away. The 2 boys in awe, the 2 older men, listening in rapt attention, the young Raider, whose face shows resolution, fear, anguish and pride, and the look of pain and understanding on the postman's face, who looks old enough to be a WW1 veteran.
  18. The world has always been messed up. Imagine what it must have been like, when The Black Plague killed of as much as 1/3rd of Europe, or Genghis Khan's Mongols were building pyramids of human skulls, The Spanish Influenza Epidemic after WW1, or any other vacation spot, like Eastern Europe during WW2, Cambodia in 1975, the examples are endless.
  19. I look around at the people when we go to the local diner and am shocked at how old they look now(I have been going to this diner for 30+ years).
  20. I cry at the end of Old Yeller while my cat laughs. I think it a heartbreaking ending, he thinks it heartwarming. I guess it is all in one's perspective.
