  1. This link, if you go down into the comments, has video of the FFs trying to bailout down the ladder truck. It’s pretty intense... https://defensemaven.io/bluelivesmatter/news/breaking-10-firefighters-down-after-explosion-buildings-on-fire-in-l-a-EG-q8eDqxUCZ95i1Tf8beQ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Have been workin* on my family tree for a while now. I got nothing after my Grandparents on my Fathers side and my Great Grands on my moms. On my moms side, most of the records were lost during WWII. And the aftermath. On my fathers, his father wanted nothing to do with his family after he left Germany in 1910, so he flat refused to tell my dad anything about them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Really good quality, thick cut, well smoked bacon. Like Benton Farms. Cooked soft. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
  4. Luminox are nice watches too. I have several and they are quite rugged and about $700 or so. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  7. I have one. It is a fun pistol and gets lots of comments at the range. Really slow to reload. DA is hard pull, but very smooth DA. It is also surprisingly light in weight. Yes, it can be suppressed. It does make a very good seal when firing. The actual bullet sits back in the cartridge, instead of protruding like modern ammo, so the rim of the cartridge sits/fits into the barrel making a seal. However, after firing for a while, the seal becomes les absolute, unless you clean. It is rather accurate out to 10 yards, which is the furthest I’ve ever tested mine. Sorry, it is locked away right now as I am in Dubai and am disarmed. Withdrawal symptoms... I was able to score a lot of ammo for it so I do have something to look forward to when I get home. I actually got it online for a decent price about 7 years ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  9. So, I'm a lot bored because no one o e is hiring here. Health wise I feel safer here than the US because they are being very strict on preventive measures and very proactive on testing. The lockdown is strict. You cannot leave your residence without a pass. Period. The fine STARTS at US$10K. And loss of Visa. And deportation with no chance of return. Ever. The pass is easy to get online, but you have to say your address and where you are going and how (walk, bike, car), the app then tells you when you can leave and was when you must be back home. You can only go grocery, pharmacy, gas station, food pickup. Oh, and you MUST wear a mask and gloves. No more than ONE person per residence. You can get a work permit if you are one of the necessary services. Traffic has gone from fairly heavy to virtually nada. Delivery is available for everything, which is great. As I have a history of asthma, getting Covid at my age could be a bad thing. Testing here is free. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can make a free appointment for a drive through test. However, if you are positive, you must self isolate, and they will check. If you get frank symptoms, they put you in one of the treatment cars. So, instill looking for work, but th he agencies tell me that it will be a while. Guess I'll post some pics of the view from my current apartment. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

  16. Here in Dubai! Complete with thunder and lightening. Hail was about 0.5 to 0.75 inches in diameter. Not what I was expecting. Couldn't even see the building across the way. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

  20. And now they have announced they will not be giving out any new visas for the foreseeable future. Oh boy, that would include renewing mine in 30 days, if I don't get a job. My wife's lawyer found a loophole that just allowed me to extend my current visa for 90 more days. Phew.
  21. Dubai is a HUGE Chinese tourist area and stopping point. Yet there has been no panic, no hoarding, and no real closures here. What is happening is they are scanning ALL arriving passengers with thermal imaging and anyone who’s temp is off is pulled aside for enhanced screening (swab up the nose). If you are sick, or appear to be sick, you are taken to a quarantine facility, which looks like a nice dorm or Holiday Inn, and are quarantined for two weeks. Dubai pays for everything, including your medical treatments. The only public things changed are that Spring Break was moved up two weeks to now, and they reserve the right to extend it, if needed. Also, the Imams have been told Friday services can be no longer than 10 minutes, including the sermon. The Mosques are temp scanning everyone coming in. The head Imam has said that hearing Friday services in your home, if you think you might be ill, counts as being in the Mosque. Otherwise, business as usual, although they did CX the worlds largest boat show. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Not quite. The Sheik wants everything to be the best and different, although there are the “Twin Chrysler Buildings” here. The only buildings he himself has put his stamp on, per se, are the Burj Khalifa (worlds tallest building), which they acknowledge the design was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wrights “The Illinois” which was to be one mile high. The other is the “Burj Al Arab”, the “Sailboat Building”, the most famous building from here. When they first started developing the Modern Dubai skyline, the Sheik wanted a building to set it off. He hired a, British I think, guy who presented him with a bunch of semi conventional designs, which the Sheik hated. The gu then took some colored pencils and blank paper and made a sketch of kind of a sailboat sail. The Sheik loved it and said “Build that!” The Sheik was heavily into the design process and even helped design the helipad and where it was located on the building. You know this as the 70th or so story tennis court. That is one of the buildings he was heavily involved with the design and execution. Otherwise, he stays out of the way, other than making sure everything gets done on tome and budget. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I’ve thought about it, but it costs US$100 to go up there and have a drink. Also, the top of the tower moves up to 10 ft due to the winds... [emoji33] And I’m afraid of heights. FYI, they are thought to be starting work on an even TALLER tower! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. They bought CT scanners and are using them. In theory you are not being bombarded by XR simply by being next to it while they scan your stuff... I also have a lovely bridge in Brooklyn to sell you... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. The one that looks vaguely like a Saturn V rocket is the world's tallest building. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
