  1. Today I had the distinct honor and privilege of giving a little car ride to my 92 year old stepdad and Purple Heart survivor of the Pusan Perimeter, Jet. He's been cooped up in ChinaVirus quarantine for months now, so he was ready to go for a spin.

  2. WOOP WOOP! I just sent Eric a PM. I stick to my word, it goes right back into his hands and it's up to him if he wants to put it back up or just keep it. Having a home here at TBS is already a huge gift. It's a good day.

  3. 30 minutes into the archery season and I put my bull down. A spike. Was able to get to him with the F250 and winch it into the back......whole, minus the guts. A couple hours later he was hanging, skinned, in my shop. That's 21 with a bow now.

  4. I'm o.k. He was 94 years old. Lifetime logger, Deacon in the church. Was an EMT with the local FD, although he hadn't been doing that for quite some time. He was in his own home, overlooking the Toutle Valley. No hospital or hospice. I'm pretty sure most of you on this board would have liked him. A great man who lived a long and very good life. A mentor to many. We should all strive to do so well.

When you go to the website for Fenix Ammunition you are greeted by a single question on a full page: “Did you vote for Joe Biden?” If you click on “yes,” you are redirected to Joe Biden’s website and his plan to attack the Second Amendment. If you click on no, you are redirected to the Fenix Ammunition store. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/06/ammo-supplier-cancels-order-customer-said-voted-biden-read-epic-full-exchange/

  9. So... I was at Meijer (the upper~mid~west's Walmart), buying a bunch of regular crap, and on an impulse, I got a betta fish. A very young (just over an inch) deep deep red male (my last one died a year ago), in a little clear tub. Put him in my cart. At the checkout, the girl (about high school, I guess ), had beeped and bagged everything else, and I kept the fish for last, and was standing at the credit card~reader end. I held it up towards her, about head high, so she could beep the barcode on the bottom..... And she let out a bloodcurdling scream and BOLTED! Then she instantly acted like a trapped wild cat and started panicked zigzagging back and forth, in stops and starts. Then she took off through the clothing department, towards the back of the store. So now I'm just standing there, thinking, "Well. This is new." And then I noticed that the whole store had come to a complete halt. And was staring at me. Like I had just assaulted or hit her. They all slowly started dialing their phones and holding them to their ears. The employees at the customer counter came out and gathered in small groups and very slowly started making uncertain steps toward me. I'm at a complete loss of words or actions. After a full minute, some guy rushed up from the back of the store and apologized. He said the girl prolifically apologized too. It seems that she had a severe fear of fish. Fishophobia. And I had just casually stuck it in her face. So the guy finished checking me out. Said the girl really looked pretty freaked out. The whole store, still frozen, silently watched me walk out of the store. I'll name him "Red".

  10. Don't mess with the IDF The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) may have tricked Hamas terrorists via Twitter and lured them into a deadly trap on Thursday night, Israel National News reports. If true, it may be the greatest Twitter troll since Trump brought peace to the Korean peninsula by calling Kim Jong Un “rocketman”. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/05/israeli-army-trolls-terrorists-twitter-lures-deadly-trap-buries-hamas-tunnels/ "On Thurday, the IDF deployed infantry, artillery, and tanks on the Gaza border, leading Hamas to believe that Israel was about to begin a ground invasion. As a result, Hamas sent its fighters into its underground tunnel system beneath Gaza City, Israel National News reports: “On Thursday night, the IDF brought in 160 aircraft and dropped 450 bombs containing over 80 tons of explosives, hitting 150 terror targets in 35 minutes. Hamas’ underground city was hit with enormous force, and the IDF collapsed the terror tunnel system, on the heads of the terrorists hiding in the tunnels. During the attack, many kilometers of terror tunnels were destroyed. As of now, neither Israel nor Hamas is clear on the exact scope of the damage, but according to estimates, a large number of terrorists were buried in the sands beneath Gaza.” If the reports are true, it may be one of the greatest feats of military deception since the Six Day’s War, when extensive counterintelligence and misdirection led to Israel’s conquering Sinai, East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria in under a week."

  12. I'm still shaking my head at this year, as we all are. December might have put a positive spin on 2020 for me. Boss texted me a week ago. Asked me how long I've been a Nurse Practitioner, then how long I've been in Emergency Medicine, then what he was paying me. I figured I done Fked up, BAD. Nah. He gave me a major promotion, to Florida Clinical Manager, overseeing 3 clinics, 13 other Providers, and a hefty 12% raise. I schedule the Providers, write new protocols, handle minor disciplinary stuff, and manage training and recertification schedules, in addition to my regularly scheduled patient care shifts. I'm still writing my job description. Pretty sure we are opening a 4th Florida clinic right after the first of the year, and he still wants me to travel to newly opened clinics to orient the providers. He says he wants to open 20 new clinics across the nation in 2021. 2020 in recap- Got a dream job in the ER. Got furloughed when Covid hit. Got hired at my company. Damn near died from the rona. Was off of work for two months total this year. Wrecked my truck. Got a ridiculous promotion. Oh, and I'm heading up to Savannah for the weekend, part of which will be dinner with my boss, and a personal tour of an 8,000 acre plantation that he owns, that used to be owned by Henry Ford.

  15. The virus is real, many if not most victims are real, the stats and reporting are twisted, that thing was designed in China, most likely leaked on purpose, and the resulting pandemic was used and abused to corner The People through unnecessary lockdowns, fear tactics and new restrictions. They established a new standard of obedience, necessary to remove more personal rights in the future, all to embolden the state and the "Democratic" party. There are many articles and opinions from professionals who have voiced concerns and confirmed these theories over the past year, but both mainstream media and social media have ignored or outright banned that content. Almost all media outlets and social media platforms are in bed with the Democrats, so it comes at no surprised that most critical information was withheld, shadow banned, delisted, de-ranked or canceled. Granted, in order to see the big picture, you have to get your ass up and find better sources for information, and that's where most are lacking. Many don't want to find real facts, knowing they wouldn't be able to deal with such a bad outlook, that not only questions past believes but refutes them entirely. My assumption is, that the virus was leaked on purpose, in parts to create chaos, blame Trump on the handling, and prevent him from another term. Both China and the Dems had everything to lose. A government op doesn't have to be 100% airtight, you only have to make sure that any critical thinking becomes unpopular to the point that the sheep will fight the few who question the data and actions. This worked perfectly in the past year. Every critical suggestion was immediately declared to be a conspiracy. People don't even understand how dumb they are, all they need is an ego, well fed by those who push the agenda. And when it comes to those sheep who bought into all the left wing agenda, I'm coming back to the rule that 90% of all humans are followers, aka herd animals. They eat what "leaders" put in-front of them. Critical thinking is disabled, by default, and that is appreciated by the "Democratic" party.

  17. Went in to do an MRI. Of course masks and social distancing is required, along with all the covid questions. I get to the waiting room and there are 2 people already there. A guy and a gal. The dude has his mask pilled down below his nose. So does the female. She pulls the mask down to her chin, picks her nose. Then digs in her ear. Mask down again and wiping her mouth. She was a petite looking thing but was wearing what looked like size 12 flip flops. I'm losing what little faith I have left in humanity.

  19. She was a doctor. Funny, smart, full of life. She hated all the mandates, thought masks were stupid, and believed the democrats were using the virus to attack our country. She immigrated to the US decades ago, being a doctor helped her get here and she became a naturalized citizen so she could vote. She was in the first group to be elegible for the vaccine, but waited until the next group becuase she didn't want to take a dose away from someone who needed it more. A few weeks ago she got the booster shot and came down with covid shortly after that. I don't know how she was treated after she was admitted to the hospital. The last time I saw her we ran into each other while I was visiting her town. She saw me from across the lobby, yelled my name, and ran over to give me a big hug. That is how she was, always full of energy. Rest in Peace, Doctor.

Ran at about 15 amps though my foot wasn’t all in on the pedal. ive just dropped 1800 on 2 welders this weekend to maybe start a mobile welding business. Tomorrow I get to drop about 400 on an argon cylinder.

  22. Since the chainsaw wielding child amused some of you, I thought I'd post her silliness from Wednesday. I was not present for this because I was at home on the farm while the rest of the family went to the husband's family reunion week in VA... they went to some resort to use up the grandparents' timeshare thing. Anyway, resort has some classes/experiences you can try for cheap... including scuba. Dad mentions it as an option. Youngest daughter decides scuba is a "Good survival skill, Mom!" so she signs up...(she uses that excuse for a lot of things, mostly she's right)... at the end of the class, the instructor finally slaps the water over her head to get her to come up (because she'd have stayed down til the tank ran out without any idea what time it was), she comes up with a big grin on her face, swims to her father who has walked over to the pool and says, "That was SO MUCH FUN! Dad, this is going to cost you SO MUCH MONEY!" and then she cackles her evil laugh.

  27. My wife came home with a life altering decision yesterday. She is a senior investigator with the Federal DoJ and has been for many years. Because of the sensitivity of her work, I can't disclose further details about her assignments. After previous administrations and what did and did not occur under the Trump administration; she has submitted her resignation and retirement effective 1159 hours EST, 20 Jan 2021. Her regional supervisor was shocked and asked why. She replied that after seeing what could be done and was actually accomplished under the Trump administration, she could not continue on under Biden and was resigning 1 minute prior to his inauguration. My wife is not politically motivated, but she did say that more has been done in the past 3 years than in recent administrations. I'm surprised by her resignation, but she already has a job lined up after a week off. Sometimes, demonstrable action is necessary.

  30. It was well recognized that Martha Raye endured less comfort and more danger than any other Vietnam entertainer. The most unforgivable oversight of TV is that her shows were not taped. I was unaware of her credentials or where she is buried. Somehow I just can't see Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, or Jessica Simpson doing what this woman (and the other USO women, including Ann Margaret & Joey Heatherton) did for our troops in past wars. Most of the old time entertainers were made of a lot sterner stuff than today's crop of activists bland whiners. The following is from an Army Aviator who takes a trip down memory lane: "It was just before Thanksgiving '67 and we were ferrying dead and wounded from a large GRF west of Pleiku. We had run out of body bags by noon, so the Hook (CH-47 CHINOOK) was pretty rough in the back. All of a sudden, we heard a 'take-charge' woman's voice in the rear. There was the singer and actress, Martha Raye, with a SF (Special Forces) beret and jungle fatigues, with subdued markings, helping the wounded into the Chinook, and carrying the dead aboard. 'Maggie' had been visiting her SF 'heroes' out 'west'. We took off, short of fuel, and headed to the USAF hospital pad at Pleiku. As we all started unloading our sad pax's, a 'Smart Mouth' USAF Captain said to Martha.... "Ms Ray, with all these dead and wounded to process, there would not be time for your show." To all of our surprise, she pulled on her right collar and said ......"Captain, see this eagle? I am a full 'Bird' in the US Army Reserve, and on this is a 'Caduceus' which means I am a Nurse, with a surgical specialty....now, take me to your wounded!" He said, "Yes ma'am.... follow me." Several times at the Army Field Hospital in Pleiku, she would 'cover' a surgical shift, giving a nurse a well-deserved break. Martha is the only woman buried in the SF (Special Forces) cemetery at Ft Bragg. Hand Salute! A great lady. I did not know this about Martha Ray. ................................................................... Her service to U.S. troops was also commemorated after her death in 1994 via her burial with military honors in the Post Cemetery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a singular honor for a civilian: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/2334/_

  31. Wow. The last 36 hours have been A LOT. Woke up at 1600 yesterday, went to work 2000-0500. Drove to Orlando International Airport, took off for Denver at 0800. Left Denver for Phoenix at 1400. Ok, 1500. De-icing took a bit of time. Met this super cool Israeli/Phoenician chick sitting next to me. She gave me great pointers for my time in town. We exchanged numbers, shared texts today. Got a couch to crash on in PHX, in exchange for a couch in MCO. Very productive flight! On the bus from PHX to the car rental place, this dude was flexing on the phone, lawyer this, and lawyer that. Started cussing loudly, so I kicked his foot to get his attention and asked him to chill out. He actually did. And approached me when I was at the car rental place, and apologized. The counter girl asked me what happened, and I told her. She gave me an upgrade for free for that! Driving a Durango instead of a Mitsubishi matchbox. I asked her jokingly about that Maserati in the lot, and she told me not to push it. Good times! Del Taco and Buffalo Trace whiskey are both rarities in Florida. Found both this evening while exploring. Also found a place to get some good sunset pics over the city-the Papago Mountains, suggested by my new airplane friend. That's on the agenda tomorrow night after work, with dinner at Blue Adobe after sunset. Meeting a mentor, friend, and GT/TBS member for dinner Wednesday night after training at the new clinic all day. Checking out my college that I got my BSN from, on Thursday. Be nice to finally set foot on a campus that gave me a degree, lol! Friday involves an early rise, a drive to Saguaro National Park. That'll be a new National Park for me. 22 or 23? I forget. Will work that night at the new clinic here, and then leave back for Orlando early that morning. Figure I can sleep on the plane. Made a new friend. Eating and drinking well. Seeing pretty things. Some days, it sucks to be me. Today, is not one of those days.

  32. Saw a young boy walking on the side of the road. I thought he looked a little young to be out by himself on a busy road, he was about first grade. I'd decided to stop and make sure he was ok, he was walking in a way that indicated he was in some sort of trouble and a bit of a hurry. I noticed that another car seemed to be watching him as well so I pulled up and asked the man inside if he knew the boy. He said he did, it was his son, and the son had been kicked off the school bus for bad behavior. Dad told me he was making the son walk all the way home so he would learn to behave on the bus. I'm guessing it was no more than a mile or two to his home, no distance at all to a healthy lad. I told the dad good job and went on my way. Really impressed that there are still parents out there that will make their kids behave. That dad was doing that boy a huge favor, he might even turn out all right someday.

  33. Along Walt's Truck thread, well, I bought a minivan a month ago. So my man card is revoked for now. I got tired of worrying about my new Vette or truck getting scratched and dinged up when staying at the beach for the day. People don't pay attention (and don't give a **** either). Beach chairs, beach umbrellas, doors flying open, kids peeing on the wheel hubs, you name it. It takes in average 2 trips to the beach (or any place around here) for the first dent & scratch combo to show up. So I searched for an old beach beater that I could also turn into a long weekend "camper". After a couple months I found a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan with 140k miles on it for only $3k. Prior owner is a hard core liberal and had no clue. The van had a break and serpentine belt squeak, and one sliding door didn't lock anymore. A dealer quoted him almost $2k, so he probably still thinks that he made a good deal giving it away for only 3k.. Bought aftermarket lock actuator for $25, belt /tensor / pulley kit for $70 and new break pads all around for $50. All fluid change for good measure and this thing drives like new. So far I kicked all but the driver seat out and threw a camping bed in for now. Will build a proper bed / cabinet frame this winter. Will have 400 watt solar panels on the roof, 280 Ah LIPo batteries and 40 G water tank in the Stow & Go storage places in the floor, gas stove, sink, porta potty, outdoor shower, RV mini fridge / freezer. Nothing for long trips but I do want to get around more in Florida and not having to worry about hotels, or shitbags scratching up my new vehicles. Planned layout..

One day he listed all the presses and gear he was using to make a point for his superior knowledge. When I posted a photo of my lab grade certified reloading scale, being worth more than all his reloading gear together, he not only banned me from posting, he purged every single post I had ever written.

  35. In the realm of unexpected outcomes hang gliding saved my uncles life. He was young, he wanted a hang glider. My grandma didn't want him to get one. My uncle wasn't really a rebel, but if he got an idea he tried it, had to discover things for himself. I guess that's why he owns patents for aerospace technologies. Anyway, back before the aerospace stuff he got the hang glider. Some friends wanted him to go hiking/backpacking with them but he said no he was headed to the coast to try out his new hang glider. The friends went hiking without him. Mount Saint Helens blew and the friends were never found. My uncle was at the coast and survived not only flying his hang glider but also the mountain erupting. My grandmother said she took it as a sign to let him do his thing, it might even work out in the end.

  37. I was there December 29, 2020 Ride of a lifetime by Rick Mantei I have been flying for over 50 years, primarily as a USAF fighter pilot instructor in the F-4 and F-16. Once I retired, I loved to fly so much I decided to get some airplanes that were affordable, relatively high performance and safe. I settled on the Jet Provost, a trainer primary flown by the RAF. A fun airplane for giving rides. I have given hundreds of rides since I bought it in 1997. I have given rides for fundraising travel agency vendors who support the airshows, such as Make-A-Wish, attaboys for military shows as well as rides for vendors who support the airshows. In October 2005, I was giving incentive rides in my MK 4 Jet Provost from Friday through Sunday in support of the Celebrate Freedom airshow at Camden Air Field, South Carolina. Later on that Sunday afternoon, as the airshow was winding down, I had spent all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday giving rides to support the event. I was seriously exhausted, as the plane is 1960 vintage and has no modern creature comforts like air conditioning, hydraulic boost, or cabin pressurization. I was approached by a middle aged gent asking me to give a ride to his dad. I apologized and explained that unfortunately, I had to fly 100 miles away to take the jet for its annual inspection and then drive 2+ hours back to my home. Suddenly, the retired general in charge of the airshow (the air boss) begged me to fly this guy. As I was sitting in the jet ready to crank it up and go, a jeep showed up and about five beefy guys showed up to lift the old frail guy up to the cockpit. The man was old and hunched over and sickly looking—what could I do but fly the old, frail guy? In the Jet Provost you sit side by side, so I could easily see him. We flew to a nearby lake and I asked him if he wanted to fly, fully expecting him to say no. He nodded his head yes, which shocked me, and I let him have the stick and he took control. He sat straight up and fully alert, like a warrior of old, and flew the plane like Steven Canyon. It was as if 60 years were taken away from his age instantly—he did loops, aileron rolls, and lazy eights. When you’ve flown with Pappy Boyington, you’ve seen it all. I was stunned. After about 10 minutes in the air he looked over at me, gave the stick back, smiled and went back to hunching over and being 85 years old. He never said a word to me. For a few minutes his face said everything. For a few minutes he was alive and excited! I was not aware who the guy was. When we landed, the local TV stations were filming the show for the nightly news. I felt like Charles Lindbergh with all the attention. He then signed a book for me. See, this guy did gift me a ride of my lifetime, as he was the WWII ace Robert W. McClurg, Pappy Boyington’s wingman and a member of the Black Sheep Squadron, who shot down seven Japanese airplanes in WWII. What a guy! He died 2 years later. I will never forget this fighter pilot from the Marine Corps. A true ace. He was truly from the “Greatest Generation” that ever lived!

  39. Every time that I see the many airheads and plastic people in Hollywood I can't help but think of Ms. Hepburn. As a young teenager she supported the Dutch resistance by giving "underground concerts" to raise money, delivering the underground newspaper, and taking messages and food to downed Allied flyers hiding in the woodlands north of Velp. If caught by the Germans, she would have been executed immediately. Her Hollywood story shows her as she was. Determined, intense, she carried her body as somebody with guts would. Her eyes reflected her spirit. So think of her when one of today's darlings opens her mouth and behind at the same time. And feel sad for them. It's not that they deserve your pity, it's just that they are sad. And btw...she was hot!

On board compressor and auxiliary fuel tank mounted in the bed. (gonna need that extra fuel) Has air bags in the rear suspension. A hide away 5th wheel hitch and of course a regular hitch also. Purrs like a kitten. Just rolled over 100K. Barely broke in. Came up from Ok. so no rust. No pics yet.

I got home from teaching a two day rifle clinic this evening, and as I walked into the house, my oldest daughter called me on her phone, from her tree stand down in our back field, to say she had gotten her very first deer. (This is early antlerless firearm weekend, prior to the start of bow season the beginning of October). She was hunting with her daddy's .450 Bushmaster, and the next words out of her mouth were... I'm inheriting this rifle. ROFLMAO. Not if I get it first, little girl!
