janice6
My wife has a perverse sense of humor. This morning she reminded me of our wedding anniversary today.
Mrs Glockrunner
Oops! I hope you've been married long enough that she understands your forgetfulness.
janice6
I have been married for so long that the church considered ours a "mixed marriage that needed special dispensation from a Bishop" because I was a Protestant...........
Mrs Glockrunner
When we got married, I'm Catholic, Bob is Baptist. We had to get special permission to get married, and he had to promise the kids would be Catholic.
janice6
I was told the same thing. I told them my kids would be brought up believing in God, period. I was told that the church would like me to change religions and be a Catholic. I told them that if I would change my religious beliefs just to please someone else, or some group it would make a hypocrite in my eyes and not a good "believer. We dropped the discussion. We could be married by her church, but not at the altar since I wasn't Catholic. They did marry us, not at the altar.
Mrs Glockrunner
Our experience was an unusual one. My mom was in her final stage of cancer and in the hospital. See expressed regret she would not be able to see us get married. We were able to get permission to get married in her hospital room. In attendance was the priest, us, my mom & dad, two witnesses, and out in the hallway many doctors and nurses. First marriage performed in a room at that hospital. She passed away 3 days later. That was over 43 years ago.
