North Carolina Sheriff Deputy Denied Engagement Ring due to Gun

"A sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina was prevented from picking up an engagement ring he ordered when the jeweler kicked him off the premises. The reason? The police officer was wearing his service firearm.

The county sheriff’s deputy was “ready to propose to the love of his life,” according to the sheriff. He drove to the local jeweler store in Statesville during his lunch hour to retrieve the ring—and was promptly escorted off the premises by the manager.

The manager apparently met the unnamed deputy at the door and told him to leave because he was wearing a gun. The policeman informed the manager that he was in uniform and driving his marked patrol car, and was therefore forbidden by policy to remove his service weapon.

The manager apparently was unsympathetic and told the deputy to return at a time when he was not wearing his firearm."

Propose, let her know what happened, then watch the manager get a face full of angry woman who wanted to show off her ring to the girls.  Stand out the store and laugh with your arms folded as she knee strikes him in the crotch and face.  He looks at you as you stand there in uniform and ask, "Why aren't you helping me?"

"Sorry, I can't come in there with my firearm, remember?"

If you already paid or paid something down, look at your receipt and see if it prohibits you from picking up your ring.  If it doesn't, tell the store you want your money back since they added a condition to the contract that they didn't inform you about until later.

Go spend you money with a store that appreciates first responders.  F'em.

If they give you crap, talk to a lawyer!

Manager got fired by company, so no reason to boycott or make examples of anyone, the company took care of the problem, and I doubt any other employees will cause any issues unless they want fired also.

Honestly, they didn't need someone that stupid anyway.

That was my viewpoint on it as well.  If you're going to actively alienate the police and their supporters then you really don't need to have a job where you interact with the public in a managerial position, unless you want to destroy the place you work for.

I couldn't agree with you more. Besides he was clearly a good guy with a gun.

Rightly so.  Never mix personal politics with business, unless your tired of business and are willing to lose it.
