We were on the roof of a huge industrial plant and the guys were telling me about the falcons nesting around there.  Then they noted that they hadn't seen any in a while.  At that exact instant,  I looked down and found a dried-up bird's leg with a band on it.  I said, "Here's your falcon right here."

The environmental guy took the leg.  I don't know who had the database (some college probably) (These plants have to report when they have nests,  so they can be documented),  but he came back later and said it was from some guy's racing pigeon from several states away.

POW!

I guess he lost that race.
