Effective 1/1/20 House Bill 1264 changes the name of the Tennessee Permit from “Handgun Carry Permit” to “Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit.” It adds a new section to the statutes that lists all the criteria on obtaining a Tennessee Permit which will require less training and cost less. I can’t find a final version of the bill with the amendments that passed added. With the passage of Bill No. A05944/S04863 New York has removed “Gravity Knife” from the statute on what is considered a Deadly Weapon. NYC was citing a lot of people with an Assisted Opening Knife saying they could be opened by the flick of the wrist and the NY Supreme Ct even upheld a NYC conviction in the last few years upholding an Assisted Opening Knife was a Gravity Knife. NYC Admin Rules state a knife must not be visible. That clip that we use to carry that knife in a pocket showing has also gotten people cited. I had it backwards from what the bill actually stated. I have removed that from my post. I have to look and try to figure out how I made such a huge error. Gary Slider Posted May 31, 2019 Author Share Posted May 31, 2019 My Washington entry should have stated that the Washington Legislature passed and the Governor signed a bill that REMOVED the Governors authority to stop the possess/carrying etc of firearms outside the home doing a declared emergency. I previously posted incorrect info about this bill. The bill is very easy to read and is not hard to understand. Don’t know how I got it wrong. I just made a huge error! It looks like there are three different permits: Handgun Carry Permit, Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit, and Concealed Carry Permit. If I understand correctly the Handgun Carry is being replaced by the Enhanced Handgun Carry. What is the enhancement? My guess is that they are trying to fit the requirements for CCW in other states with different requirements than Tennessee.
