Huaco Kid
I don't care who wins. As long as it's not Bahston.
tous
Blues! Blues! Blues! Just a personal note. As much as I hated NBC's coverage the Indianapolis 500 chronicled here, I hate their hockey coverage even more. They might as well wear Bruins sweaters. No doubt about who they want to win. Huaco Kid
When we watch on TV, we always turn the sound off and listen to Mike Lange on the radio. Most of the bars around here do it too. He's like the Myron Cope of hockey.

tous
I did not think that the Blues could do well against Boston's fore check. No other team could. I was wrong. At least for the first period. tous' rules for successful hockey: Win faceoffs Control the neutral zone Score on the rush If the other guy's power play sucks, play harder, else, don't take penalties Edited May 28, 2019 by tous
tous
Boston woke up. Codicils to the above: Just because the other team has a weak power play, it's best not to give them a lot of chances to improve it Turnovers in your zone are bad. This doesn't even need to be said. Unless you can score from 150 feet, try to keep the puck in the other guy's zone. Fore check is not one guy after the puck, four guys watching. If you are in the slot on your forehand, that is not a pass play -- shoot the danged puck.
tous
So, the Bluesies maintain their record of never having won a Stanley Cup playoff game.

tous
It was a great game. Looking forward to game 2. Heck, as a Blues fan, I can only hope that there is a game 5.
theglock
I'm hoping it ends in four. Not telling you which team I want to raise the cup, though. ;^>
tous
Being a Blues fan is not unlike a Chicago Cubs or Boston Red Socks fan. The time between championships is measured in lifetimes.
tous
Game 2 is about to begin. Please restrain your yaks until the final whistle. You know how they get with hockey. Thank you.
Huaco Kid
jeez! I'm missing it! Too much work. 2-2. Looks like a replay of the last game. I'm assuming it was wide open, again.
tous
Unlike the first game where Boston had no trouble exiting their zone, both teams are defending the neutral zone well, both teams are hitting and sustaining a fore check.. Both teams are playing their game. Boston still prefers the highlight-reel pass to the shot on goal. Good game so far.

theglock
Dang. That was a very good hockey game, but I'm no fan of the outcome. Only silver lining is we get to watch these guys battle for at least five games instead of four.

tous
Don't remind me. NB That's Noel Picard standing there and Ernie Wakely, the back-up, in goal. Jacques Plante was injured earlier in the game.

Huaco Kid
Boston (not boston, Detroit) was my favorite team when I was a kid. (we didn't have pittsburgh back then)

Huaco Kid
I still have a nub of a stick that Bobby signed. I don't know why I sawed the stick off. We were kids back then. We didn't care. If we could have put it in our bicycle spokes, I would have. 1
