So, they adopted the 1950s two-tone paint look.

What next?

Vinyl roofs?

Curb feelers?

Bring back the step-sides! :broc1:

Update.

On further consideration, I sort of like that truck.

Especially the chrome on the front.

I miss chrome.

And, its best feature, it isn't orange.

You can still buy a basic truck.  The problem is, most of the trucks on Car lots are really luxury cars that happen to have beds on them.

Both Chevy and Fords web sites allow a "build a truck".  A basic truck, with a standard cab, 6 cylinder automatic is available.  I think you can still get one with roll up windows.

Isn’t orange... Well, now...

Seriously, is the truck so named because it has a V-10 engine?

Yes...

Orange and four door and a reasonable bed for hauling stuff. Probably can parallel park it in any two consecutive places and vertical park in any two pull through places.

For me to successfully parallel park any more requires a very short vehicle or a very long space.

True, but at least they aren't the $50K plus I see on so many dealer lots.

And we need to keep in mind trucks from the 1970's either became complete rust buckets-at least here in the Midwest-or they were ready for a major engine overhaul by 75 to 100K miles.

You could buy a standard cab plain jane for $30K and if you are a typical user driving 15K miles a year it would last you at least 10 years if you take care of it.

I'm kinda meh on those.  The paint doesn't follow the bodylines at all.  It did on the old square bodies:

There is a ridge on the body right where the two colors meet.

The basic 2019 Ford Ranger 4x4 and the basic Toyota Tacoma 4x4 are well over $28,000.

Basically, if you buy a compact truck nowadays you get less truck for the same money.  EPA restrictions mean they have to be bigger or would be desperately underpowered.

Tacomas also have odd issues - frame rust and something with the exhaust/emissions system.

Like the Chevy Colorado, it's the same size as a full size truck was 15 years ago.

My wife saw one somewhere (the newer ones) and thought it was a new Chevrolet full size.  She said it looked a little small.....
