" Cooper has repeatedly opposed voter ID legislation over the years, saying it was unnecessary and would prevent many poor and minority citizens from exercising their right to cast ballots. He vetoed the measure even though more than 55 percent of voters approved a constitutional amendment last month requiring in-person voter photo ID."

It is amazing to me that the people that clamor the most for, and about "freedom", and rights are so hell bent on not protecting the one that can irreversibly change our nation forever.  How they can be so fanatic about their perception of rights and still ignore the most important of them, so they can get more political power, is beyond me.

The argument against ID is the worst of all arguments.  In our society, ID is a requisite in most of our   economy.  It is used to protect the sellers from others that are determined to break the law, therefore ID's are required for many things to uphold the law.

Yet when it comes to politicians and their obsession for control and power, then they don't care who votes for them, legal or not, because it is the vote that counts, not the country, it's citizens, nor it's lawful representation.  ID should be demanded to protect the right to direct your own country's future.

Politicians believe that only they should control the citizen's future.  There is the disconnect in our system.  It isn't the illegal voters that are the worst threat to our nation's existence, it is our own politicians greed and lust for power.

I recently had to show my drivers license at the doctors office.   But not when voting.  It does sound ludicrous until you look at it as another step in destroying our nation.  Chip away at firearms ownership by any means available at every opportunity and negate any reason to vote.  Almost sounds like we are rapidly becoming a third world country.

Wrong, enforcing voting laws is American! Enabling voter fraud by not having a Voter ID law is un-American. Also American should be capitalized in your post.

How else are the dead and illegal aliens supposed to vote?  Here in Texas they scanned my driver's license, which ostensibly I don't mind.  But, I have seen the DMV in Laredo give driver's licenses out to illegal alien's like a Pez dispenser.  Therefore, it won't prevent voter fraud; however, lately, they have been using that crap to send out to your neighbors your voting record, like a threat.  This is the first election I have see this happen.  They had an e-mail, to which I wrote a scathing message to them about the secrecy of the ballot.  It is not for public consumption.  I noticed this was a trend when Beto was running.  I also found it to be illegal to put up all the Liberal signs right in front of the Catholic Church, where I am required to vote.  Posting political signs at a polling place is illegal.  But, I ignored them, being the Conservative Termite I am, and voted all Red.  Why?  I am tired of Liberal Fascism that seems to echo National Socialism.  Never again.

Thank god for Washington state. Our mail-in ballots require a signature, the same requirement that has worked for 200 years.

Worked?  Worked to allow Democrats and other criminals to steal elections and disenfranchise voters.  ID is required to buy a firearm.  Board an airplane.  Drive a car.  Enter a Federal building.  Attend a Democrat campaign rally.  But it's un-American.  Nice logic, there.

What we need is voter ID AND no voting for:

- people who are not paying income tax, unless they are retired - after paying taxes for at least 20 years - or service men / women

- people who have aggravated, premeditated or violent felonies, or any drug charges beyond simple possession of pot on the record

- people who don't pay for child support

Maybe the solution is to embrace this decision.  Why should we be restricted to only voting once?  If illegals can vote, a registered voter should be good for at least 2 or 3 ballots.

Maybe there's a workaround to this system that even legal voters can exploit.

In a perfect world, it wouldn't be required for any of those things. Adding another item to that list of pathetic practices is another step down a slippery slope.

"Papers, please."

P.S. I particularly like the part where "conservatives" ask for papers for everyone, then call liberals nazis. I love it when that happens.

We don't live in a perfect world.  If it was a perfect world, Democrats wouldn't cheat to win elections.  But they do.  Fascists think it's fine to cheat to win elections, since the end justifies the means.  Always cheat.  Always win.  Perfect.

P.S.  I particularly love the part where "liberals" claim to hate disenfranchisement of voters, but fight tooth-and-nail to make sure some voters are disenfranchised every election, as long as they fit a certain profile.  I love it when that happens.
