pipedreams
No pictures of Trump with firearm but he did receive a conceal carry permit 2012." "Trump told reporter Emily Miller in the 2012 interview that he owned a .45 caliber Heckler & Koch sidearm and a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver. “The way I view it, if nobody has guns, then only the bad guys have them. And they aren’t giving up their guns,” he said at the time." https://www.politico.com/story/2018/02/28/trump-guns-concealed-carry-430824 Edited January 12, 2019 by pipedreams

Dog Soldier
Anyone who closes an eye and sights down a shotgun barrel is very humorous. But then so are the men who shoot imaginary rifles. Bill Clinton the masterful Draft Dodger who hid out in England frowns at the M-16.

Wow, this is tempting to respond to, considering Capt BoneSpurs but....Carter is an accomplished bird hinter, knows more than a little about shotguns..who is 'sighting down the barrel'... Dog Soldier
Our Presidents have been more often clowns and continue to be colorful. I think the President Carter vs the Killer Rabbit is an outstanding example. Sharp's offered the .45-110 before closing down. It was the largest caliber manufactured by Sharps. The .50-120 and others were offered by Winchester etc. The Buffalo were gone by 1885. Many of these rifles were sold in Africa. Hmmmm not sure if serious.

AK_Stick
Meaning I find the prospect that “many” big, clunky, overly long barreled, sharps rifles were sold to Africa, a dubious one. The time frame you’re referencing was the heyday of the bore guns. Most of which had fairly short barrels, express sights, and were quick into action because range was often measured in feet, not yards. Being quite the student of African hunting, specifically turn of the century Africa, I’ve not heard much about American cartridges or rifles being used. And I certainly can’t see the guys who were struggling to cleanly kill elephant and buffalo with 4-6-8-10 bore rifles moving to a smaller, and drastically less powerful rifle to do so. Especially when it would be a proprietary cartridge that almost exactly duplicates cartridges they had at the time.
Dog Soldier
I see you are better versed in hunting and rifles than I am. May I humbly apologies for my grievous errors. I do have a friend who hunts in Africa who uses a Sharps .45-110-530. The Sharps rifle was produced in many weights as they are today. Hunters today like me are not as experienced continue to use these rifles across the world. Thanks so much for correcting my errors. http://www.shilohrifle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16816 https://www.wideopenspaces.com/black-powder-zebra-hunt-south-africa-sharps-rifle-video/

Quote Before his term in the White House or as Governor of Georgia, Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer raised in rural Georgia. Carter once commented that he had a fishing pole and rifle in his hand since he could remember, and spent the majority of his youth hunting and fishing near Plains, Georgia. Those habits didn’t change once Carter took office, nor after. “I have used weapons since I was big enough to carry one, and now own two handguns, four shotguns and three rifles, two with scopes,” he wrote in an op-ed to The New York Times in 2009. “I use them carefully, for hunting game from our family woods and fields, and occasionally for hunting with my family and friends in other places. We cherish the right to own a gun and some of my hunting companions like to collect rare weapons. One of them is a superb craftsman who makes muzzle-loading rifles, one of which I displayed for four years in my private White House office.” https://www.outdoorhub.com/stories/2015/03/02/americas-5-greatest-hunting-presidents/ I now he was a dem and all but......
