It's gonna be chili tomorrow in my part of Alaska

Recommended Posts

Man, Chili sounds great, I have some Florida German Shepherd (deer) that's ground and frozen. Venison chili just tastes so much better than beef. I add a little cinnamon to mine, kidney beans, and a couple different kinds of smoked and grilled peppers. Not really aiming for hot, just flavorful.

Let it cool off just a bit more.

its gonna be 35 in the morning here ,  lord my old bones ,

I woke up this morning and it was 52 and windy. It was 80 yesterday. Even the cat is freaked out about the temp change.

My hip started to ache last night, musta knew it was coming.

Blasphemy, sir!

Blasphemy!

Try a teaspoon of creamy peanut butter per gallon if you make a spicy chili.

Like cinnamon, it enhances the flavor the spices and adds just a sense of sweetness to offset the acidity of the peppers and onions.

Doesn't do  a danged thing for beans.

I'm gonna try the prunes.

You never know what's good.

Tous, it gets worse. I came up pretty poor. My guess the beans were added to expand the size of the meal when I was a kid.

As was serving it over white rice, which I sometimes still do. My apologies to the chili purists. It's just what I've been used to my whole life. I certainly ain't got a problem in the world with eating chili without beans and rice, though!

Just joshing you, amigo.

Take your chili anyway you like it, but eat a lot of it.

I also like chili over rice, one good rib-sticking meal.

I remember nights when we had canned tuna mixed with cream of mushroom soup over toast for supper, but I don't recall ever once being hungry.

Here's to our parents, then.

I remember some times being a little hungry. But only because the meals just weren't very appetizing to my young palette. Liver and onions just weren't my favorite. Same with anything SPAM.
