WTF is wrong with America?!

Just spent nearly three weeks abroad in Japan.  Had a 14hr layover in Seoul.

Nearly every person I interacted with was polite.  I never saw road rage or vandalism or any crime.  I saw one traffic accident.

The Tokyo and Seoul airports were clean, convenient, and in excellent condition.

Both passengers and employees were polite.

I went through customs in Tokyo and it was efficient, polite, and pleasant.  Despite an incredibly long line.

I just flew into sea tac in Seattle and what a craphole on every level.

The customs officials were an embarrassment.  They were extremely rude and condescending to ALL passengers.

They were yelling at people and being absolute dicks.

No excuse for their behavior.  I was clenching my teeth I was so mad.

Then I finally get through customs only to be greeted by a filthy and run down airport filled with shabbily dressed sketchy white trash talking loudly on cell phones and pushing their way through the terminal.

Seriously, I'm embarrassed for this airport and the people here.

What a shame.

Our families don't disappear when we act like we do.

Yeah, that's a great excuse for acting like animals.

I didn't realize Japan was an oppressive dictatorship that "makes families disappear".

But then again, pretty sure you have no idea what you're talking about.

We have it very good in the US.  I think some people have forgotten what it took to make it so great.

I got frisked leaving the US and it was a mugging.  On the way back a French policeman professionally did the same and it was nothing.  Almost wondered if he was done.

TSA in Atlanta owes me dinner for feeling me up and declaring my junk a national security issue.

Most Eastern Asian countries have very large populations.  It's extremely difficult to avoid being around other people all the time.  There is a much higher level of interpersonal respect displayed over there than there is here because there really is no possible way to avoid being surrounded by people all the time.  They have been living this way for thousands of years, whereas we are only beginning to experience the issues of high population density.

They are also raised much better than we are in regards to education.  They are taught to take pride in their learning, and the students are the ones that actively take care of their school cleanliness.  Here we like to consider it "beneath us" to have to take care of something that we don't expressly own.  Even then, many people think that because they own something, whatever they do to it or how it appears to the rest of us makes no difference because it is their "right" to be offensive.

Also, quite frankly, resources are in shorter supply (or were for a very long time) and so it's just not economically feasible to be as messy as many Americans tend to be.

I believe that from memory, Japanese think Koreans are the lowest scum on Earth.

Maybe times have changed and I don't know it.

And the feeling is mutual, lots of WWII memories about the clearcutting of the entire penninsula, comfort women, etc

Korean schools actually taught that Japanese brains were smaller than normal brains

I have a friend looking to re-located to Japan for the reasons you listed. He's visited several times and he's making plans.

He's highly educated, works for Google and anxious to get out of Dodge. He's actually applied for a few jobs there but needs to polish his language skills and he'll be on his way.

From my experience in Asia, the darker the skin, the lower you were on the ladder.

IIRC there was a strong bias towards specific facial geometries. It was regional... you don't look like us, go away!

It's mostly a cultural thing. As Pistolay wrote, they are not such a melting pot, and they are not as divided as we currently are. Japan has also a much longer standing heritage as well as higher respect for human beings in general. Their population being well above the average IQ of the western world is just another piece of the puzzle.

Seattle is a city where Liberalism has taken a firm hold. Liberalism is the only mental disorder which is actually contagious and is the worst health crisis we have ever faced. It is a severe mental disorder that should be treated like any other severe physical disorder and steps need to be taken to eradicate it.

Those affected by Liberalism suffer from number of different delusions including the belief that mortality is relative and situational and there is no right or wrong and that the end justifies the means. The lead to the rude irresponsible behavior that you witnessed. They also suffer under the illusion that there is no longer any need for the family unit or traditional religious or moral values or to practice manners or civility if it doesn't get you what you want. And they also believe in their delusional state of mind that  if you don't get what you want you have a right to lash out at others who you perceive and denying you your rights.

Seattle is a preview of what the future holds for the rest of the country if this mental disorder is not dealt with. The only thing that we as individual citizens can do is go to the pols in November in vast number and vote AGAINST any Democrat unless you want to put the lunatics in charge of the asylum,

Just for reference, there were a few protests just outside the Army base that I was stationed at in South Korea, by college students.  They were protesting the plans to expand the base.

I had the fortune of being in one of the watchtowers (as opposed to having to walk between towers).  Protest lasted several hours.  After it was over the protesters walked off with their signs and banners.  I was standing outside the tower watching them leave, several of them waved at me in a friendly manner, and I waved back.  It was nothing personal, they just wanted to let us know they disagreed with expanding the base, but didn't take it out on us personally.

Then again, it probably also helps that every male in Korea serves 2 years government service, so the police force for things like this is enormous.  It's just a very different mindset than the average westerner/American who doesn't understand how the rest of the world works, or pretty much how our country actually works either.

A couple of observations if you don't mind

-- Did you notice at any of the foreign airports any declarations to the effect of "Diversity is our strength"?

-- I notice you use the term "white trash". Isn't it remarkable that in this country we are free to bemoan any low-life activity as long as we qualify it as "white"? Had you mentioned "shabbily dressed sketchy trash talking loudly on cell phones and pushing their way through the terminal" you'd run the risk of being labeled a racist (the worst thing anyone can be in New America) because we all secretly know (but cannot say) that "persons of color" are disproportionately hired in such make-work positions and disproportionately behave in the manner you describe. If that weren't the case the term "white-trash" would not be needed.

Glad you enjoyed your trip! :)

Spoiled, lazy , entitled young Americans of the 60's have grown up and continued the helicopter parenting creating more spoiled, lazy, entitled Americans

But in reality the japanese have so much pressure to succeed which is why suicide rates are off the charts, and then there is japanese porn.
