Al made scratch made traditional handmade Japanese buckwheat soba noodles (I even milled the buckwheat).  First was zaru soba, which is a cold noodle dish with a dipping sauce and condiments.  Then, a hot soba with dashi, clams and rockfish.  Mmmmm.

Dinner tonight. Maybe 600 calories. Spinach, carrots, tiny tomatoes, chopped yellow bell pepper, shredded cheese, 1 hardboiled egg, pepperocini, 2 tbsp lowfat dressing.

The key to making leaf spinach feel substantial, and not like eating leaves? Sprinkle it with black pepper. Makes it seem like real food.
