"Stropping" a knife (razor strop)

Instead of stropping my wood working tools after sharpening, I cut a 5" diameter piece of 3/4 inch plywood and put an arbor on it to fit into my drill press.  Now I spin up the plywood disc and apply various fine polishing compounds to  it to sharpen and polish finish the edge all at the same time.  Increasing pressure increases the cutting rate of the steel, decreased pressure produces a highly polished finish like a mirror.  I use it to sharpen cutting edges to a mirror finish, and the ridged plywood doesn't round the bevel on the cutting edge.  Sharpening takes a minute or two and is easily good enough to shave with.
