The best you're going to do with the 450 Bushmaster is the Hornady 250 grain FTX bullets at $29.99 a box of 50/ $/.60 cents a bullet.

That's why I like the 468 SOCOM better than the 450 Bushmaster. Any bullet you can use in the 45/70 you can use in the 458 SOCOM and because of the bottleneck design, blunt bullets feed better.

Speer Hot-Cor Bullets 45 Caliber (458 Diameter) 350 Grain Flat Nose Box of 50 $24,99 ($0.50 cents a bullet, These bullets have been used for hunting North American game for many years and work very well at 45/70/458 SOCOM velocities.

You could even use 300 grain coated cast bullets from the Missouri bullet company for $42.50 for 200 bullets ($10.62 for 50 bullets)

I bought a box of 100 225gr Hornady FTXs for $32 from Brownells.

I cast my own bullets, and I have a couple of molds that will work; just need to use gas checks.

And i also think the 250gr XTP will work just fine for target shooting and thin skinned predators.
