Worried that $2 trillion law wasn’t enough, Trump and congressional leaders converge on need for new coronavirus economic package

Trump has signaled support for some of the ideas that Democrats back, such as expanded help for small-business owners and new bailout checks for households. Republican leaders, meanwhile, have also called for more corporate aid and money to boost the overwhelmed health-care system.

.

All they have to do is, "Let my people go".

I think it was unplanned, but when it happened, the opportunity for politicians was so great that they grabbed it and used it for their gratification.  Planned or not, the results are the same.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

On April 4th, for example, the IHME model predicted there would be between 120,963 and 203,436 Americans requiring hospitalization, with the average of that range being 164,745. In reality, there were 18,998. […]

That’s just hospitalizations, when it comes to intensive care beds, the difference between the projections and reality show an equally large gap. The average projected ICU beds needed on April 4th was 31,057; the reality was 4,686. That’s across the country, not just New York. Even after factoring in the caveats about missing states, that’s a miss akin to swinging and striking out on a pickoff to second base.

Crewmember on Navy hospital ship Comfort tests positive for coronavirus

A crew member aboard the U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort has tested positive for novel coronavirus and is currently in isolation aboard the ship that is currently docked in New York City, according to a U.S. Navy statement.

The news comes on the same day that the hospital ship was designated to begin treating COVID-19 patients in New York City, a reversal from the earlier policy that it could only treat patients not infected with the coronavirus.

I'm thinkin' since conservatives don't like "corona virus" and liberals don't like "China virus" maybe we can call it the "Reichstag Virus"...

I'm calling it the first blow to America.  Friendly fire, formerly known as "Collateral Damage".

Anyone else watch the news and wish the idiots writing the scripts would learn what the word "epicenter" means?

And while we're at it, are they having a contest to see just how many times they can use the phrase "flattening the curve" no matter how badly out of place/wrong they are actually using it?

The use of "Epicenter".  This word is used because they think it sounds more intellectual, but they use it interchangeably with "Center".  Proof that they are talking heads!  Idiots repeat what they don't understand.

They use "Flattening the curve" to give the impressions that they know the connotation.

What it really means is to prolong the event in order to reduce the amplitude of the spike.  It's an attempt to integrate the transient.  When you "flatten the curve", in the sense the government uses it, it means everyone that gets the virus will still get it, but not at the same time!  You will still be at risk but it will take longer!!!!  It's less frightening to people that don't understand what's happening to them.

I just heard a local police call for a squad because there was 20 to 30 people in a place and they weren't keeping 6 feet apart.

I kid you not.  This is how low we have sunk in just a few days.
