I can't bring myself to join any party. I ask the patience of the members to edumacate me about socialism in light of this list I saw. Please use a little insight because some topics seem wrong, like flying in an airline. That's not the socialist issue, but Air Traffic Control is. With each election I usually vote on the biggest few issues to me. Thanks in advance for your wisdom! Extra points if you can explain how a private competition model would improve the subject.

What this implies is that of you don't like "Democratic" Socialism, you would prefer Anarchy, or number one on the list, the elimination of "All Government". This is infantile, simplistic thinking. It's not a matter of either/or. Under capitalism citizens have a right to private property. Under Democratic Socialism the rights of the individual must sometimes be limited or sacrificed for the greater good of the majority. And as far as Air travel, One of the leading proponents of Democratic Socialism, Alexandra Occasional Cortex, wants to do away with air travel and bordr patrol as well!  But heaven forbid we should do away with big bank bailouts and corporate subsidies..

I'm not a member of any party either but I believe in the principles that founded this country. And one of those principles is that basic human rights are not something bestowed upon the people by the government. And we have a Bill of Rights that specifies which rights the government cannot infringe upon. And we have a constitution that defines the limits and the duties of the government and does not give them unlimited power or authority.

But that's what they want, unlimited power. And they justify this by saying that the more power they have, the more good they can do. But it doesn't work that way because power corrupts, and they already have too much power and it has corrupted them. They are extremely dishonest but they justify it by telling themselves that they are lying to us for our own good.

What is needed is not the elimination of All Government, but a restraint on the size and scope of the government that we have now

If the federal government actually operated within the enumerated powers granted to it by the thirteen sovereign states which agreed to form “These United States...” probably 90% of it would go away.

I'd be happy just to eliminate about 20-30 percent. The BATF, (Established July 1972), The Federal Department of Education (Established : October 1979) the Federal Department of Energy (established August 1977) would be good to start with. This country got along fine without these huge exceedingly costly but worthless bureaucracies prior to their establishment in the seventies.  And there have been other agencies and sub-agencies established since with little rreal purpose but to justify their own existence.

As far as the Department of Education, at the time it was established. some states had a better quality of education than others and the purpose of federalizing public education was to make thing more equal. And it did.  Eventually, after the establishment of the federal Department of Education, scholastic achievement levels of the states with the highest achievement scores were brought down to the levels of the states with the lowest achievement scores.

And the purpose of the Department of energy was to make the US less dependent on imported oil. Instead, the DOE worked for years to limit domestic oil production.

I’ve heard that Department of Education was Carter’s tribute to the teachers unions.

Now a days,  political campaigning is not saying what you will do FOR all the citizens, but what you will do to punish some citizens.  How far we've come!

I think it's the media, J. There have always been demagogues, but nowdays it seems "we" won't listen to anyone unless they're yelling about how they'll bring the evil to justice.

The diminishing product quality of our Education System is either an ironic result of unintended consequence, or the fruition of a long operating Leftist Plan to achieve cultural acceptance of Collectivism through the indoctrination of those most vulnerable to persuasion.....
