I have never seen a Kitfox with a radial. Sure enough, the Kitfox with the Rotec R2800 radial is a thing, although somewhat new. Looking at the specs of that motor, I do not know why people are doing it, but there it is.

They made one of them and if I recall, it was actually in service. aircarver broke the other prototypes, returned them in cardboard boxes with Sticky Notes reading, Try again. I thought that the one Walt Longmire posted was real too. But when I looked at it closely I noticed elements from other creatures: Swing wings from either an F14 I think The missiles from that Russian ground effect thing AWACS radar on the RHS fuselage Etc. But as someone else said - if it's big and it's Russian and there is a question as to whether they actually tried it - Yes is usually the safe answer.

I think if they had continued that project from the point of view of a navy ship rather than an aircraft, concentrating on a smaller high speed missle cruiser with more manouverability...it could have scared the pants off of us. Big battleship size missle boats with that speed escorted by smaller faster gunboats. We we could have had hydrofoils, ground effect, and littoral designs forty years ago . Maybe some people are uncomfortable unless they can see a lot of oil. 1
fortyofforty
I still think the most beautiful fighter was the Spitfire. The lines are simply amazing.

Speed in a straight line is fine, but when that thing was the rage, it was pylon racing and that means sharp corners.
