I'm looking at load data from Hodgdon site for .38 special using Titegroup and 158 gr bullet weight. They give two options but the one I'm concerned with is the 158 gr cast lswc bullet. My question is can I substitute cast lswchp or cast lrn or even fp?Same weight.

If I can't find a direct match for a bullet, I substitute load data from basically all bullet shapes and types as long as the bullet weight, caliber and powder is identical, start with the posted minimum pressure charge, uploaded a ladder in 0.2 gr steps to the maximum pressure, shoot and observe pressure signs, velocity and accuracy. Anything that's too hot (flat primers and smileys) or out of shape accuracy wise will go back home and get pulled. I do this firearm based in order to find optimal loads.

Every time I go this route I cross-reference the base load at least with one more source.
