Hmmm.... I think you’re right. I now recall there were protests claiming it was a symbol of our Country’s unnecessary use of Atomic Weapons. So, to prove to the world that we were ashamed, it was not put on display in the Smithsonian.

'Bock's Car'  (Nagasaki) is at Wright Pat.

I seem to recall reading somewhere a few years ago that the 'Enola Gay' is in the back room at the Smithsonian.   They were planning to display the plane, but I don't know whether they caved to the protests....

Yet the powers fighting us were justified in their attempts to build the atomic bomb to use against us.  We were fortunate and highly skilled.
